If you are the No. 1 restaurant on Tripadvisor for a resort then there is pressure to make sure you live up to the billing. No pressure then and none shown, these are 2 people who are in the zone. They make serving a full restaurant of 20 covers (small by normal standards) seem like a breeze. Having dined in... More

In the back streets of L'Escala you find a husband and wife team, he Spanish and doing the cooking, she Swedish and front of house (the restaurant is named after her mother's birth place) providing the most innovative tapas type food and working their socks off to supply the small number of tables with dish after dish of excellence. Not... More

This restaurant is one of the main reasons my family have been going on holiday to L'Escala for over 10 years now. The staff remember us every year and are very accommodating. They will move tables around to fit you in their cosy but perfectly organised restaurant. All wines and spirits are on display for you to have a look... More

Korpilombolo is a breeze of fresh air in L'Escala out of pizzerias and fish restaurants. You have to order 4-5 different dishes to get full but it's worthwhile as then you taste many food flavors: bravas, tuna, salmon, "panceta".... The wine selection is also very good, with focus on wines from the Empordà area. If you have doubts about which... More

Hidden in the back streets, Korpilombolo must build its reputation on its food...it's a small place, with only a handful of tables and if you haven't booked, you may well be disappointed! It isn't open every night, and only opens on lunchtimes at weekends, so you need to be prepared before you go! And when you do, you won't be... More

The small plates menu is superb with starter choices ranging from reindeer carpaccio to the most sublime patatas bravas you will find anywhere. A wide range of main courses included my choices of melt in the mouth cannelloni and the fantastic suckling pig. To finish, my all time favourite of vanilla soup with salted liquorice rounded off the perfect meal.... More

Hidden in the maze of narrow streets above the seafront in L'Escala, Korpilombolo doesn't look particularly special until the moment you sit down and cast your eye over the menu. It's a fairly modest bill of fare, but so well-prepared and beautifully served that you soon forget that you're eating what is essentially a Catalan nouvelle-cuisine tapas. Croquettes laced with... Went as 3 couples to L'Escala to sample a Catalunyan New Year. A friend who lives locally organised the meal, and we were eventually a group of 14. Everything was excellent - many interesting, delicious courses and unlimited (very good) wine for 70 euros per head. Pau and Annette were excellent hosts and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Fun menu, lots of tasting dishes. Hot squid, avocado ice cream, tuna wasabi, duck ham, cannelloni truffle, to name a few great ones. Desserts also great including cheese with truffle honey. Nice people. Great value for excellent quality food.
