Visited here on walk from Frigiliana and what a wonderful setting. Food was great, owner sat peeling potatoes when we arrived!

The small village of Acebuchal about 6km from Frigiliana was revived in 1998 after been abandoned since 2nd world war. It is a picturesque village that has a very nice restaurant El Acebuchal that serves very good food all home cooked (casera). And it is a real reward after a walk up in the mountain. Depending of day and time... More

We go here regularly with my parents who have a place in Competa but this time we took our friends for Sunday lunch. It really is a hidden gem... Service - always very welcoming, well English spoken (though we should make more effort to speak Spanish) and given they are always busy, they do their best. I would recommend ordering... More

We went to this restaurant whilst staying in Nerja. It is not strictly in Frigiliana but in El Acebuchal. Luckily we were with someone who knew the way. It is down some pretty awful roads so good luck with that. However, it's well worth the visit. The family that run the restaurant are very friendly. I had the wild boar... More

A regular visitor on the terrace recommended the grilled steak. I'm not much of a meat eater, yet this was an experience to remember: the size was enormous, but more importantly the quality was superb! With a lovely tomato salad, and fried peppers, just lovely! On other days, we ate their homemade croquetas, very tasty as well. Not to forget... More

Dining area hangs over the valley across the lane from the restaurant; the occasional horse or Land rover passes. Hunter type food, home made bread, good soup, wine etc., the family that is building the village of white houses for I think vacation rentals is building on land which I think they owned before the civil war. A good outing... More

We walked all the way from frigiliana and treated ourselves to homemade bread with olive oil , wild boar and venison. The bread was superb, and our main courses very nice! The service is very friendly and the location very scenic. No atmosphere? I don't know what people expect, the place is in the middle of the mountains, you have... More

Acebuchal is quite a drive from the main road but it's well worth it. The food was delicious and amazing value. The home made bread was the best I've tasted. Really friendly service.

Read all the "speil" on this place and we went there to see it for ourselves. It was very hot here and no atmosphere very dead and a sleepy bit of a village. We had lunch and as recommended we had the bread with the olive oil, kid goat which was mostly bone and the almond sauce was just like... More
