This unique restaurant is in a remote valley a bumpy drive right after Frigiliana but definitely worth the drive. The little town has been nicely restored and has a wonderful view into the mountains. The bar offers very rural but tasty food. Start with some fish or pumpkin croquettes, and then try the ox tail, the duck or... actually anything... More

We picked up a flyer (with map) in a shop in Frigiliana and thought wouldn't it be lovely to get away from the tourist traps (however beautiful) for the day and see a bit of rural Spain and the National Park de Tejeda. The single track mountain drive there is both breathtaking for its beauty and the sharpness of its corners... We found this 'lost village' on a website when looking for things to do around Nerja. What an amazing, fascinating place to visit - it is an absolutely beautiful, flower-filled, tiny hamlet and well worth the mountain drive. On arrival you arrive at the Bar El Acebuchal, where we had booked a table for the evening. We arrived slightly before... More

Great traditional food, cooked extremely well. This little bar ranks up with the very best restaurants in the picturesque village of Frigiliana and is well worth the drive up the mountain roads out of the urban sprawl. The menu is short, but well priced and servings are generous. The only negative was that they do not have a specific menu... More

We stayed here overnight while on a trek with John Keogh Walking Tours. Tony , his Father and Brother took wonderful care of us. The food here is fresh / creative and seasonal served with friendly casual service. This was my second and just as special visit to El Acebuchal, I hope to be back in September. Ole.

Well advertised in Frigliana so decided to take a trip -walking! It is seven kilometres from the centre mainly on the road to Torrox. About four kilometres in you turn off the main road following the route which basically ends up as a track into a small picture postcard village and straight into the bar/restaurant. When looking at the menu,... More

Drove here for lunch, a couple of miles from where we were staying. The drive although a little hair raising on the way there was not so bad on the way back! But the food and village were amazing. Felt like we'd found a little bit of paradise and the food was easily the best we had whilst on holiday.

Recommended by locals we met at the coast, we decided to give this tiny village with an interesting history a go. The drive from the Frigiliana road was about 1.7km and more a track than a road, winding up and down the mountain. Brilliant views, be prepared for some sharp intakes of breath as you turn round some of the... More

My wife and I visited this for the first time with friends who had been before. Everything lived up to the descriptions and expectations - although the last mile proved a little scary for my wife!! Coming back seemed less so! Beautiful location, good quality Spanish hill fare, service polite and easy, will definitely go again and recommend to friends.

To reach the restaurant you will have to go on a dirt track for about 1 mile. It's a bumpy ride with a normal car. The location of the restaurant is great in a very small village. The quality of the food is very good, real Spanish meals. The service was poor. The waiter let us wait for about half... More
