The road is'nt that bad, the food is excellent

A hot day, a dusty mountainside track, winding its way through trees up into the hills and alongside ravines. Then you come to Acebuchal, a hidden and once derelict mountain village. In the mid 80’s a family decided to renovate the houses including the restaurant El Acebuchal. It couldn't be more... read more

Having just moved here we have eaten here a couple times or so, food is reasonable in quality but nothing extraodinary,The salads are huge and beautiful fresh ingredients, Prawns pil pil are quite good, Reasonable price for what is a tourist eatery.

It's not so much the destination here as the journey to. This is a small village high in the Sierras of Tejeda with stunning scenery to and from. The village itself is worth a visit and you can have some refreshments in the bar which is very typically Spanish, and quite beautiful. Having said that, the trip is not for... More

The journey from Frigiliana to Acebuchal is not one for the faint hearted! It takes you over some serious mountain single track dirt roads which are covered in rocks and dust. To your right is the mountain wall, to your left an incredible drop with no barrier! We enjoyed every minute of it!! There are only a few signs along... More

... I say somewhat off the beaten track, because although this intriguing and beautiful hamlet nestling in the mountains a few miles above Frigiliana feels a world away from the nearby tourist towns, it's very much a destination in its own right - so I suspect it's seldom quiet, despite its relative remoteness and inaccessibility. Which means you really need... More

We had read about Acebuchal (the lost village) on the Internet before our recent holiday to Frigiliana. We were lucky enough to have hired a car for our stay so set off to find this village and Wow what a find. The history of this little village is worth reading up on. The road to Acebuchal can be a little... More

Drive through Frigiliana and and across the hillsides to find this place. The restaurant makes its own bread, we stopped for lunch and weren t disappointed, chicken was really good, leave room for homemade cakes and icecream!

Don't let the comments about the journey put you off, it's not that bad. The tomato and orange salad was a meal in itself, the homemade bread which they put in a bag so you can take it away was also a delight. Best food and best value for money so far, we will definitely try and fit another visit... More
