Not to be missed

Don't let the comments about the journey put you off, it's not that bad. The tomato and orange salad was a meal in itself, the homemade bread which they put in a bag so you can take it away was also a delight. Best food and best value for money so far, we will definitely try and fit another visit... read more

Third year to Frigiliana and we finally took a trip to this hamlet and ate lunch at the restaurant. What a treat! We had the wild boar, the kid, the steak which was the biggest I've ever seen and the chicken in yogurt. Beautifully cooked and very tasty . Very friendly service too . We will be back !

I know that I am echoing the views of most of the reviews about Bar el Acebuchal when I say it is absolutely worth the journey to get to it. There was not a fault to be found in this traditional home cooked food. From the bread and olive oil to start to the homemade cheesecake to finish and everything... More

We spent ten days in Frigiliana and ate here twice (as a group of 15 hill-walkers, best to book if you are a large group). The food is delicious and well worth the drive/walk to find the place. The picture shows the house salad which is the largest and most tasty salad you could wish for, also do try the... More

This is a bit of a trek up and down the mountains around Frigilianna, but it is well worth the visit. We had their Boar and chirizo to start followed by Partridge in an orange sauce. Portions are very generous so come hungry and you will be fully graitified. We had ther home made ice cream to days before, also... More

Unique restaurant in the middle of nowhere with an amazing selection of food. Lots of unusual dishes - we sampled baby goat in an almond and garlic sauce and turkey in a sweet wine and fruit sauce. The homemade bread is delicious. This little village was restored a few years ago after the inhabitants were forced out after the Civil... More

Part of the fun of visiting is the trip on the the narrow unmaid roads to see this small beautiful village and eat at this restaurant. It's a fantastic experience, the food is freshly cooked and the service excellent, the portions are generous make it difficult to manage a starter and main course. Be sure to ask for the freshly... That's the only word that adequately describes the sauces in the various casseroles using local game - rabbit, wild boar, deer, mountain goat as well as pork, chicken and oxtail. What's more each of these rich, dark, lip-sticking sauces is skillfully seasoned with spices that perfectly complement the particular meat used in the dish. This is traditional mountain food with... This is the only establishment in the area but beware, it closes at 5pm -ISH (tho' a doggy bag will do you for your dinner). Friendly owners and staff and great food. Reasonably priced considering the large portions. Brilliant position within a national park. Lots of walkers and an equal amount of those that just come for the food. The... More
