Fantastic local food

Visited with friends who had been before. The drive up is something else, quite spectacular. Food absolutely gorgeous and the home made bread too morish

Whenever we have visitors, the restaurant at Acebuchal features regularly on the list of places to take them, along with Taverna Sacristan in Frigiliana. This is the first time we have walked there from Cuatro Caminos- the turning at which you take the dirt road. It's a pretty walk (25-30 mins downhill) and makes you feel like you deserve one... While walking in Andalucía we visited this restaurant on two occasions. After a few hours walking in these mountains this little place is like an oasis in the desert. The staff are superb and the food is first rate. It is a must for any rambler or even the people who actually drive up to it.

I am absolutely in awe of this oasis of culinary Nirvana hidden away in the mountains above Nerja, Spain. And I do not say this lightly; I am speaking from a 30+ year hospitality background in which I have degrees in Culinary Arts, owned my own restaurant and worked as a restaurant reviewer for a major newspaper. The "road" to... More

Recommended on all levels as the host family excel at all they do including their interesting Spanish mountains menu, fresh home baked bread, selection of apperatives, ales, wines and digestives.

My first experience of this little find was a walk with John Keo walking tours. We did the walk setting off from the restaurant where the mules carried our lunch along from the walk. All the food came from the restaurant and was delicious. Barbecued chorizo sausages, cheese, fresh baked bread by Antonio himself that morning, meats, eggs, delicious oils,... More

You need to be a little intrepid to get through the mountain roads, but it's certainly worth the effort. A lot of dishes from the land around (wild boar, venison, partridge, rabbit) with real gourmet sauces or in saucissons, plus good salads.

This village when we first came to the area 30 odd years ago was abandoned, but the young man who started this bar restaurant a few years ago has bought other properties and the village is now coming back to life. The food is Spanish rural with locally caught game, goats, sheep etc , fish is bought up fresh from... More

A little off the beaten track but still accessible with a regular car. In the list village of Acebuchal it was a most welcome yet unexpected find. A small intimate bar with a handful of tables and then lots of outside seating. It is the food that draws people here along with the oven baked bread which is so delicious.... More

We walked from the top of the hill down to the restored village of Acebuchal and went for a light lunch to the delightful restaurant perched on two levels. The family who run it are charming. The home made bread and olive oil were superb. We shared a plate of chorizo, morcilla and patatas. Everything was delicious. It was a... More
