In the view or looking at it

The age old question, do you sit in the view (probably in a characterful restaurant/bar), or enjoy the quayside of Porto from over the river(hence the very good rating)? Ar de Rio is a steel box with windows, but the weather was good enough to sit outside. The steak sandwich (rump) was tender and... read more

Nice restaurant with an amazing view over Porto and Rio Douro. The food is good, including the tipical francesinha. Fair price (less than €20/pax).

Called in here today after reading a pleasent looking menu. Half the inside was blocked off so took a table inside which was only one of 2 in use. Very breezy so asked the Adrian Mole lookalike waiter to shut the glass doors a bit to which he replied no!!! Obviously couldn't give a toss about our custom,,,, needless to... More

There are only two positive points in this restaurant: the view and the staff. I've ordered a francesinha and it was one of the worst in my life. I classify this restaurant as a tourist trap. It's a shame since it has everything most restaurants seek, but ruin everything at the kitchen.

The food itself is average, even the famous "Francezinha", typical for Porto is just average in this place. But the view is spectacular and worth the visit!

As we say the eyes also eat, in fact the best of the dinner was the view, the tipical francesinha is normal but it as normal restaurant with nothing special, the service was not friendly it seemed like being in a very normal pub but without the music and the environement and the plus is the view, you can go... We arrived here without much expectations and we were surprised by the delicious food and friendly service! As a starter we had the best soup - caldo verde - of our lives! Then we had grilled fish with vegetables - no words!! Gorgeous!! And for dessert: toucinho do céu - a typical dessert from Portugal. What a wonderful surprise! We... More

This is the kind of restaurant I look for when I travel to a different city. Great food and amazing views over Douro river and Porto's ribeira. Had a classic francesinha (must try) and everyone in my table was super happy with food (fresh fish, soups, desserts) and service. It is a busy place with the local Portuguese so it... More

This restaurant is a glass box on the Gaia side of the river, with a stupendous view from all the tables. It is owned by the same people as Caves de Cervaja and Capa Negra, so the food is good and generous, the beer good, and the francisinhas are famously good. You can also sit outside for drinks / snacks.

You're sitting on the docks, watching the sun goes down on Oporto ! What else ? The food ? Regular. Just like the drinks. Nothing special to tell about that. Prices are quiet Nice just like the waiters. Come in for the sight and to spend some time wasting it.
