This restaurant located in Vila Nova de Gaia riverside serves a very good combination of Portuguese classic dishes and modern cooking. We had a delicious codfish burger and perfectly grilled octopus served with hard-boiled eggs and green peppers salad. Good service and helpful staff. Great view of the Douro river, Porto bridges and Porto old town.

We found this restaurant by chance and it was one of the best meals we had in Portugal. Well cooked codfish, served in a variety of ways, delicious! Not to mention the friendly staff and the wonderful view:) If you like codfish just go for it :)

Ok, if you don't like bacalhau (salt cod), stay away :) They ONLY have bacalhau, but it was good. The food looked fresh, the serving style was good, it tasted good. There were quite a lot of bones in our fish, which was a bit sloppy of course, and the waitress didn't smile once for the first 30 minutes, but... More

We asked the staff person at Quinta Do Valnova (yes, while tasting delicious port ) for a recommendation for fish & authentic Portuguese food. We are so glad we followed his advice. So many options in the area are mediocre. The restaurant features the tradition fish (Cod or bacalao) prepared in a variety of ways. We chose dishes from the... More

Chewy Way Over salted food ... None of our meals could be eaten due to the amount of salt in them... We read reviews but all 3 of us who all like salt couldn't handle this disaster ... Please please please even if you rub salt on your skin as a daily scrub... Don't eat here ... If this is... More

we decided to share 2 dishes of Bachalau: 1 was delicious with sliced patatoes and the other one was really not good with a tasteless and dry bachalau (overcooked? old?) with too much oil. will not go back

As Portuguese, I love Bacalhau (Codfish). I tried the Bacalhoeiro several times now. This place ist the best you can get to know about Bacalhau dishes. All the main recepies are on the menu, and imagine....well cooked too. The location is perfect and the service is nice. It's obvious that you can get it a little cheaper outside town, but... More

This place was suggested to me from the tour guide at Taylor Port. I had the Bacalhau a Bras with Monte Velho wine. I first tried a Vinho Verde, but it wasn't too my liking and the waitress politely changed for me. The codfish dish was flavorful. I think all the codfish dishes I tried in Lisbon and Porto were... I visited by chance this lovely restaurant specialized in bacalau and I found it so good that I wanted to come back again before leaving Oporto after a couple of days. You can find several recipes of bacalau all exquisite and prepared with accuracy and love. A real joy for bacalau lovers. The spot is definitely cosy and welcoming, the... More
