Great little restaurant

Had lunch twice at this family run restaurant and enjoyed it very much. It is very busy with local people which is a good sign. The food is delicious and simply served. Try the green soup which is super and the fish was beautifully fresh. It is also incredibly good value for money.

The owner of this place was seriously so rude to my family and I. The guy has nothing better to do than mope around with a frown on his face, commanding orders not just to his employees but to his clients. My family and I came into this "local" restaurant after it was recommended to us by our hotel. After... More

Traditional portuguese restaurant, with excellent, traditional food. Great octupus and codfish. Affordable, mid-scale prices (circa €20/pax). Totally worth it. Its location (Cais de Gaia) allows for a very beautiful view over Porto (from the outside of the restaurant).

This restaurant was recommended to us by a young man who works for Kopke Port Wines (lovely port tasting there, do try). He told us that is where he goes to eat. We went there for lunch before our tour of the Calem Port cellar. The restaurant was packed with locals and no tourists. The food was simple and delicious.... More

You'll find restaurants with a better view. Sexier dish presentations. With more polite service. Here, you'll find one of the oldest restaurant in this area. With a great "Polvo à marinheiro" and other great dishes, packed with flavor. An owner who will serve you, and mistreat you if needed, because he doesn't want to become just another touristic restaurant. Hail... More

The food and wine were just okay; the next door Restaurante Dom Luiz is far friendlier, with food that is just as good, or better. The potatoes with our meals were overcooked and flavourless. When the proprietor/server took our plates away, he asked, "Don't you like potatoes?" and muttered something in Portuguese that didn't sound complementary. I think they don't... More

Simple but ample food in a straight forward setting. No pampering to the tourist hordes. Interesting to observe the family bickering and fighting. Good value and the dishes have to be freshly cooked as they take some time to arrive.

So good and all so delicious. I had the octopus with shrimp and clams. And my wife had seafood salad. One of our best meals and the fried potato slices were a wonderful addition. Then dunk bread in sauce from the meal. Highly recommend and the staff is so friendly.

It was recommended to me by the people in one of the port places. The least touristy of the restaurants on that side of the Douro. I had excellent sopa de mariscos and really good grilled baccalhao. Dripped olive oil all over my shirt. No problem. Will be back again.

We've choosen this restaurant for lunch just because it looks like a good place and it was getting late for lunch. What a choice, it has been our worst choice in Porto/Gaia. Avoid it. No quality food. Just a place to eat but completely overpriced for the low quality.
