Great little restaurant

Had lunch twice at this family run restaurant and enjoyed it very much. It is very busy with local people which is a good sign. The food is delicious and simply served. Try the green soup which is super and the fish was beautifully fresh. It is also incredibly good value for money.

We crossed the river to visit the caves and we decided to have lunch before. Based on TripAdvisor reviews we went to acrestaura but in our way we spotted out Casa Adao. We decided to take the chance and we don't regret at all. We end up having our best lunch in Porto and even in Portugal!!! If you go... More

We arrived at noon, right when they opened. We were almost the only ones inside. Then fiber minutes later, close to 30 guys walked in. Local workers we guessed. This place was hopping! We ordered the fried octopus and octopus rice for two. We asked for salads to start. The owner suggested one salad, since it was a lot of... More

Casa Adão is a very traditional restaurant by the river, in Gaia, near Cais de Gaia. The food is very traditional and nicely made. Every time I went there I used to eat the "Polvo à pescador" (Fisherman's octopus), which I loved. Many times I went there with my friends and family. For desert they have this traditional portuguese desert... More

Stayed in Porto for 2 weeks, still have one week to go and it's already been two meals at Casa Adao. I will most definitely return. The food is fantastic! It's completely home made. The owners - hubby and wife work as a team. Hubby takes order and servers and wife does all the fabulous cooking. First night, had bread,... More

Food is traditional, delicious and cheap. The plates are way too big we had lots of leftovers do not over order when they say for 2 on the menu it's easily for 3-4 people.

The owner of this place was seriously so rude to my family and I. The guy has nothing better to do than mope around with a frown on his face, commanding orders not just to his employees but to his clients. My family and I came into this "local" restaurant after it was recommended to us by our hotel. After... More

Traditional portuguese restaurant, with excellent, traditional food. Great octupus and codfish. Affordable, mid-scale prices (circa €20/pax). Totally worth it. Its location (Cais de Gaia) allows for a very beautiful view over Porto (from the outside of the restaurant).

This restaurant was recommended to us by a young man who works for Kopke Port Wines (lovely port tasting there, do try). He told us that is where he goes to eat. We went there for lunch before our tour of the Calem Port cellar. The restaurant was packed with locals and no tourists. The food was simple and delicious.... More
