Simple local place with good food

It was recommended to me by the people in one of the port places. The least touristy of the restaurants on that side of the Douro. I had excellent sopa de mariscos and really good grilled baccalhao. Dripped olive oil all over my shirt. No problem. Will be back again.

So good and all so delicious. I had the octopus with shrimp and clams. And my wife had seafood salad. One of our best meals and the fried potato slices were a wonderful addition. Then dunk bread in sauce from the meal. Highly recommend and the staff is so friendly.

We've choosen this restaurant for lunch just because it looks like a good place and it was getting late for lunch. What a choice, it has been our worst choice in Porto/Gaia. Avoid it. No quality food. Just a place to eat but completely overpriced for the low quality.

We ate a good "Francesinha". I am very critical of this dish and I hardly choose to eat it in places that I don't know or that they have not been suggested by people trusted: in this case I have risked and I was satisfied. It is not the best I've ever eaten ("molho" can be improved) but it is... More

We ate at Casa Adao on our last night in Porto, with local friends who recommended the restaurant. Having subsequently read some of the reviews, I would have been sceptical of their recommendation if I had known beforehand what others had experienced. However, all went well on the night we were there. The food was relatively simple, which suited us,... More

After 2 weeks of wonderful food and a life long appreciation of Paella what was served was a travesty .With the sea a stones throw away to get A rice and seafood dish with " fake crab" , you know the pollock with the red edges was shocking.None of the clams opened .The rice was soggy and swimming in a... Situated at the riverside of Vila Nova de Gaia this family run restaurant offers good food. Their daily menue costs 10 Euro and includes quite a lot-a soup, a main course (mostly some Portugese speciality or even Porto speciality like tripas), bread, a drink, and an espresso. Even though it directed at the tourists (their menue is in several languages... More

We started off by ordering the olives, ham and corn bread. They brought over mushy olives, ham that had been sitting out and no corn bread. We randomly received a strange ball of cheese with part of the label still on it and white bread with butter (which is an extra charge on the menu). My girlfriend ordered a green... More

Good atmosphere and seemed full of locals watching Ronaldo playing for madrid on a small TV. Service was good. Food was very average. Straters were nothing speacial and we had tuna and cod for main and both were very overcooked. Large portions and reasonably cheap but had much better and cheaper in porto

we went to casa ado, after finding it on tripadvisor. Maybe we should have been warned by the latest review in October 2013. Anyhow, the place was no tidy at all, but the family next to us seemed to enjoy their meal. So we ordered the squid risotto and a tuna steak, and a shrimp omelette. After waiting for ages,... More
