Great Find!

My wife and were in Norfolk to move her mother to a retirement apartment and decided to celebrate Veterans Day with a nice dinner that we had not visited before. What great luck to have found A.W. Shucks! I can't believe we've never eaten there before. We both had flounder topped with crabmeat and... read more

Restaurant was very crowded when we arrived. When we did get seated at a table, we found the service to be slow which included having our orders taken and receiving our food and bill. Menu was extensive but food quality was just average. Food was only mildlly warm when delivered to our table.

Tasted two out of four varieties of oysters here. Both were very fresh and delicious. Also had the turbot dinner which was very good too.

This is my favorite restaurant!!.. Although I live in va beach now i don't get the chance to dine as much as I would like too. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is outstanding! I always get the stuffed jalapeños!! Sometimes I'll even get 2 orders, it's that good! A wide selection of food throughout their menu. Indoor... More

This is a little restaurant tucked between buildings that was hard to find but easy once you find it for regulars. We went on a Saturday night at 7. The place was packed with a 30 minute wait. The dining area is small. We ate on the deck at round deck tables which were sticky and it was cold out... More

Yum!!! First time here and we loved this place. Portions are above average, prices were right, food was fresh, staff was nice, good beer, open late- can't go wrong!! Got shrimp po boy, tuna sand, pasta with shrimp, steak and shrimp, jambalaya, pork chops, tomato and crab soup- were all pretty good. Only thing that we didn't enjoy was the... More

My dinner was wonderful. I chose the Coho Salmon special with a grit cake, grilled asparagus with a chipotle hollandaise. Delicious. The service was very good given that we had a party of 12. I would definitely visit this one again when passing through.

A W Shuck's is a great neighborhood restaurant that is casual and friendly, with terrific food. Be sure to check out the Monday night all you can eat crab legs for $18.95. My husband's favorite are the broiled scallops. The daily raw board lists six or more fresh oyster selections that are always fabulous. My favorites are from the Eastern... More

We went for lunch for our first visit the rest of the group had been before. Large portions of average food. The burgers were good and large. Staff were friendly. They seem to have a following. Nice beer selections. Good bar service. Presentation was better than flavor.

This place is definitely a dive but the food is awesome. The service isn't anything to write home about but again...the food is awesome! The calamari is fantastic - very fresh. I've had numerous items and they have not disappointed. I will definitely continue to put it in my top places in Norfolk!
