Flounder stuffed with crabmeat - how glorious!

One of the best meals I've had recently - I ordered flounder stuffed with crabmeat, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes! I had an Irish coffee and water to drink. Everything about this visit was superb. I was content with the meal and so pleased with the service...all at an affordable price. We... read more

Easily seated at 1:30 pm for lunch. The food was good, and ample in serving size (except the oysters) but the place is a bit pricey.

Great food, great service, great prices. Well worth a stop or many. The oysters are fresh and tender. We had them grilled but our son has them raw.

Looking for some local seafood and found this recommendation at the Navy Base. As other posts have mentioned a little tough to find but worth it. Arrived around 6 pm and was told the wait was 25 min, Monday was all you could eat crab legs. We sat at the bar instead. My wife ordered the crab legs and she... More

Found this place from friends word of mouth - and was very pleased - arrived around 8pm on a Sat night and had no choice but to eat at the bar. Had the shrimp and cheese grits as an app and the shrimp platter (broiled) with red skin potatoes - the shrimp and grits were absolutely the best I have... More

went today with a friend and got the tomato and crab chowder which was excellent. Also ordered flash fried calamari and stuffed jalapenos with crab meat, whole shrimp and mozzarella cheese. The calamari was good nothing special and kind of a small portion for the price. The jalapeno poppers were ok but would have been better if they peeled the... More

This is one of our favorite hometown eateries. The food is consistently very good, the staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere is always lively! They really know how to fry fish and the French fries are outstanding too. Try the homemade soups, always something a little out of the ordinary and always great. An extensive variety of oysters and... More

My wife and I are here with friends. They recommended it because we needed a place close to downtown. Glad they did. We split an appetizer of oysters Romano-- like oysters Rockefeller, except made with bread crumbs, bacon, lots of Romano cheese, and collards vs spinach. Fabulous! The beer list was huge, and included lots of microbrews. The mimosas looked mighty... More

It was crowded but not overly so when I had lunch there last Wednesday. The service was excellent. The menu was what I would describe as a "typical seafood restaurant" menu. The fried seafood platter was very good. I cannot give this place high marks from a value standpoint. $21.95 for the platter just seemed a couple of dollars too... More

I have visited A W Shucks 20+ times in the last 2 years. When friends/family come into town, that's where they want to eat. The food is consistently excellent, and more importantly the servers are always friendly, and do a great job. There are plenty of places to eat in and around Norfolk. If you want fantastic food and friendly... More
