Delicious food!

Good food, my husband had the crab legs, I had the popcorn shrimp. They had a small but diverse selection of beer and wine. Price wasn't bad, the crab legs were a bit pricey. The service was slow, but we went during a busy dinner.

So much food, that I made fish tacos for the next two days. the side salad is more than a side. One of us ordered 2 thinging they would be the usual... More

Not only were the crabcakes delicious but the broccoli (the side I chose) was perfect. My husband had the sandwich and the fries were very good. I hear the fried oysters are excellent.

This place has this reputation around town. I couldn't believe how awful the service was when I went alone. Sat at the bar inside and was waited on by a skinny blonde woman with the worst attitude I've ever encountered. I swore I'd never go again but some friends convinced me it isn't bad if you don't sit at that... More

This place was recommended by a local for having the best crab cakes. So true! We ordered the fried shrimp & crab cake platter. The shrimp was lightly breaded & large. The crab cake was large, no filler, all crab. There was a good variety of options for sides. Unlike a previous post, our Caesar salads came with the lettuce... More

Surf Rider is always on our itinerary when we visit Norfolk, and it has always been great. Very casual atmosphere with big windows overlooking pretty lake and the marinas. Food is fresh and delicious without fillers... seafood done right. I'm only sorry we didn't discover this place sooner.

As regular visitors to family in Norfolk, for several years we've been eating at this branch of the Surf Rider . . .and for good reasons: they have the best seafood--crab cakes, broiled or fried seafood platter, raw and fried oysters--in the area between the Naval Base and the Bay Bridge; their prices are very fair ($12 for a dozen... I had been passing the Surf Rider sign on my way to work for over 15 years, but it looked so small (judging only from the sign) I decided that it probably wasn't a place we would enjoy. However, I had several people tell me what a great place it was for seafood and that the fried oysters were to... More
