Good chain restaurant, great for being in a hotel

Prices were not too bad - really reasonable, unexpected with a hotel restaurant. Menu had a lot of good-looking options. I had the chicken parmigiana, a new item and was really impressed. Service was quick, with a friendly bartender. I read previous review that the place was dark and dingy - I... read more

I'm a local and I've been to the Max and Erma's at MacArthur Mall a couple of times. Every single time I go there the food is mediocre and the service is UNBELIEVABLY slow. A friend and I alloted an hour and a half for lunch before a movie (in the same mall). We were the only table the bartender... More

Looking for good food,, quaint setting, with a nice atmosphere. This place is it. We were headed to Yard House but it was a 1 hour wait and my last experience at the Yard House was not good. So we headed to downtown Norfolk and saw Max&Erma's. Something new for us. Parking was great. The food.........outstanding. The hot wings where... More

The garbage burger was really a good eat, a bit challenging to grip and bite it is so big but worth trying and they have a nice potato soup which can warm a body on a cold night. The burger did not leave room for dessert which was on display an quite tempting but I will save that for another... More

Every time I've eaten at Max and Erma's it's been a last minute decision and I haven't been disappointed yet! Great and fast service, with a very American menu! The atmosphere is average, not very sure what theme they are going for but seating is comfortable! The Tortilla Soup is my personal menu fav!

Recently went there with a goup of people --some from in town who had never eaten there and some from out of town. I knew that everyone could find something that would fit their palett. My favorite is the 3rd street salad and tortilla soup.... Fabulous as always. I ordered Nacho's for the table and they were a big success. Two... More

Excellent, friendly staff. Food comes to the table hot, or cold and on time. Beer is the coldest, and best.

I love the warm bread and fresh salads here. One of our favorites is the Laredo Steak, so tender it melts in your mouth. The third Street Chicken Salad is so good, portions are huge, you can get a half portion and still be full. Save room for cookies if you dare.

Max and Erma's was a great choice when visiting the downtown Norfolk area. It was within the mall which made it very nice to do a little shopping after. There was no wait to sit down. The service was out of this world, even though it was very busy. The food was nothing fancy, but it was great. There are... More
