Cozy, Great for Date Night

Went for date night and used a groupon. I had the Cassoulet Maison my girlfriend had shark. Both were very good. The bread and cheese plate was awesome. Had a double Belgian Ale that was spectacular. The highlight of the evening was the service provided by Carmen. She was top notch.

My wife and I ate here for the first time when we were visiting Virginia Beach. I mean, i could sit there for eternity and try everything that they have in the menu. The food was one of a kind, and the waiter's suggestions surprised me for good. The owner and the cook and his wife came out and said... More

Fancy date night with my husband while on vacation, we arrived late (9 pm), and they still treated us with great respect and care. The only downside was that we came in on what had apparently been a busy evening for them, and they were out of the duck. It was the one thing I'd been most looking forward to!... More

The Weiner Schnitzel was excellent, and my wife loved the pork dish she ordered. The waitress was attentive and informative, and the owner came by to assure we were satisfied. She promised that the cabbage rolls (which I almost ordered) would not be disappointing (I told her my Hungarian grandmother made them when I was young).

My mom and I were meeting a friend of hers at this quaint restaurant after seeing La Traviatta at Harrison Opera House. Little did we and the restaurant know there were 5 more joining. Not a real problem for our super attentative waiter Ian. We were quickly reseated from a table of 4 to a seperate room in the back... More

Restaurant week in Norfolk took us to the Monastery Restaurant. This was our first visit and we really enjoy the European cooking. I had goulash, the beef tender and moist and flavorful with a type of dumpling I have never had before. Similar to a biscuit type drop dumpling. Very tasty. My husband had the venison special. Very tender and... More

My husband and I went after a show at the Chrysler Hall. We were worried that we didn't have a reservation, but it was no problem. The staff was wonderful. I had the lamb special, my husband the schnitzel. Both were wonderful. For those accustomed to the HUGE American portions we've been raised on, might feel cheated. The Europeans don't... More

Went there for dinner December 23rd. I had the Vennison Saurbraten and my wife had a Gulash and both were excellent. Great place to dine on a chilly night.

Decided to stop here with my fiance after seeing an opera at the Harrison Opera House. We were first served bread with cheese which was very good. I ordered their vegetarian pasta dish and my fiance ordered filet mignon. My pasta consisted of a bunch of tomatoes and not enough pasta. It was pretty bland, but edible with a generous... More

I recently enjoyed my first experience at the Monastery. I went with 2 others and we each had a different thing on the menu so we could try a more menu items. Everything I put in my mouth was delicious! The waiter was informative and helpful with all the menu items. I would look at their website beforehand so see... More
