Even though we did not have reservations, the staff managed to fit us in. The upstairs room had a party of 41 and downstairs was a party of 21 plus other diners. That being said, other than the background noise, my wife and I received service that made us feel as if we were the only people in the place.... More

Lovely setting in old Freemason area of Downtown, in an old legit carriage house. Small and comfortable with eclectic decor, but don't be fooled, the culinary offerings are superb. Front and back of house staff are solid. Great warm bread & fresh butter, a thoughtful wine selection at modest prices for a restaurant, and a range of star attractions for... More

Went for dinner based on a recommendation from my grandson's fiance. The menu was interesting and the food just as good as promised. There was a relatively small wine list, but it listed good wines at fair prices. There is a very small parking lot next to the restaurant, otherwise parking is likely to be a problem. The service we... More

Omar is a gifted restaurant owner and operator and is well known in the community. I have known him for over 25 years. The restaurant itself is charming and warm. The menu changes seasonally, and the food is delicious. It is my place to go for special events, but enjoy it with friends for lunch as well.

Our family stopped here for lunch after going to the Virginia Zoo (excellent!) due to the rating on trip advisor. Small room with limited seating, but no problems possibly because it was late lunchtime. All our meals were interesting but I do think my daughter's Grilled Chicken Apple Bacon sandwich was fantastic. I had the B.A.T. sandwich which was a... More

Visited Omar's Carriage House on a recent business trip. The restaurant was walking distance from our B&B, The Page House Inn, and offered free desserts to guests at the B&B. Two of our group of 6 ordered starter salads. The spinach salad with roasted beets, goat cheese and cider dressing was tasty but not "special" the beets did not have... More

Looking for a place to dine and came across Omar's Carriage House. One of the finest meal experiences my wife and I have ever enjoyed. Excellent food and service. I can't wait to return. It was a wonderful date night. I am 65 years old, so you know we do not get many night out.

I've lived in Hampton Roads for thirty years. In my earlier days, before Omar bought The Carriage House, I lived in the apartment building next door. It was always a quaint little place with mediocre entreés, but the atmosphere made up for the mediocrity. Then... BAM! The atmosphere and ambiance still resonates as quaint, homey and personable... but the food... More

Everything was perfectly done, without pretense and obfuscation which is sooo prevalent in other, more 'hip" and trendy venues . . .

My friends and I get together once a month and none of us had been to Omar's Carriage House and decided to try something new. What a great experience! We were greeted promptly and did not have to wait for a table even though the restaurant was busy. Drinks came fast and the wine and beer list offered a large... More
