We needed to use an expiring Groupon and stopped by on a very cold, windy evening - around 6pm. Already, restaurant was busy, hadn't been upstairs but hostess suggested eating at the bar upstairs so up we went. A few open tables - but were reserved so we were relegated to the bar. Upstairs also has a very small stage... More

We have eaten at the Belmont several times and the ribs were always good. Saturday night several of us ordered Memphis Dry Rub ribs. These ribs were tough and tasteless, You could not cut them with knife that was part of the table setting. Even with a sharp knife we had to hack at it. Also, for two of us... More

Service: This comment is NOT about your servers. They did their job but should inform guests about the wait time to receive meals. I watched everyone who arrived with us. Yes, just like us bored to tears waiting on our meals. I saw guests wanting to be seated and you had no hostess. This was your all you can eat... More

While we have lived in the Tidewater area since 1982, we have never visited the Belmont. We'd heard from our daughter and other people that it was good, so we took advantage of a Groupon to try it out for lunch. The only negative for us was the lack of parking, which wouldn't necessarily be an issue, but Sunday's weather... More

We have been twice the pulled pork is amazing as well as the wings. Each time they have been out of the 50/50 burger (half beef and half bacon) which was disappointing. Both time the service was average. On the first trip the waitress hadnt worked brunch and didnt know the menu. The second occassion the waitress seemed more knowledgeable... More

We went to the restaurant on a Tuesday night for the all you can eat ribs. The ribs did not disappoint. Lean meaty ribs with no fat prepared with a dry rub. The server brought out six different barbeque sauces, so we could experiment. The all you can eat dinner came with hush puppies appetizers and two sides. The server... More

I had the burnt ends brisket (chunks of moist brisket), cornbread and Caesar salad. The brisket and cornbread was VERY GOOD! The beer was cold. Would eat here again for sure!

Every time I travel back to Norfolk I go out of my way to get some BBQ, and this place is great for it. The most recent visit was a tough choice between a pulled pork sandwich and the ribs. I took the sandwich, but second guess that choice. Fortunately I'll be back. I did find the hushpuppies surprising with... More

We went late Sunday afternoon and sat on the outdoor patio. Luckily despite being August, they have fans set up outside and there was a cool breeze that kept it from being too stuffy. I got the kansas style ribs with sides of mac and cheese and hushpuppies, and the others got the Monarch - basically a BBQ sandwich. All... More

The Belmont does make a really nice rack of ribs. Their coleslaw is excellent. Their collard greens are coarse and a little sandy. When they offer a "regular" and "large" rack of ribs, it is fanciful deception - the "regular" is a half-rack, the "large" is the full rack and they should label them as such. I did not feel... More
