She Crab Soup

Great She Crab Soup and Salmon Oscar!!! But can be a bit pricey and service is dodgy. Good food, a oldy but goody for Norfolkians, but not the best on atmosphere and service.

Really looked forward to this meal. Oh so disappointing! Not because of the building which was cool and on site parking is a plus. We tried a ribeye, 2 prime ribs, and crab cakes. All underseasoned. Prime rib was strange, part seemed raw and part seemed overcooked. Ordered it med rare, came out all brown, like soaked in aujus. Almost... More

I eat here frequently when in town. It's a nice choice, reasonable prices, great atmosphere. Can be slow during busy periods. Great martinis. Make reservations or eat at the bar.

I've eaten here before and this trip was just OK. Not sure where the "modern furnishings" were someone else mentioned. We were seated at a rickety "wood" laminate-top table. She-crab soup? Acceptable but not excellent. The prime rib was chewy. The service wasn't notable. It's worth going just to sit in the unusual interior; however, it's in need of some... More

The decor here is nice and it is a really cool experience. The food is good but not the best I have ever had. It is a little pricer and more of a special occasion restaurant. I would recommend it but it is not my favorite in Norfolk.

She-crab soup is great, and shrimp was done perfectly - a little crisp on the edges, firm but not overdone on the inside. Marvelous. Visited during restaurant week and a second time with a lobster pairing offered - 4 oz lobster tail and maybe 6-7 butterflied shrimp. Divine. Ambience is beautiful old world stone church with lots of dark wood... More

Beautiful restaurant, great food, and good service. It has, hands down, THE BEST she-crab soup I've ever had!

Freemason Abbey is constantly booked on weekends so get your reservation in at least a month in advance. My wife and I went with our daughter while visiting her in the area. The interior of a well preserved old church makes for a beautiful restaurant and the furnishings are all modern and clean. We sat in the upper level and... More

A gem.... Not to be missed in Norfolk. Service was fast and friendly. She-crab soup was perfect...with just the right amount of Sherry . Atmosphere was quaint and interesting. The brownie dessert was way too good to share. The only complaint is the crab cakes are a little heavy on the breading...but still very tasty. A perfect place for a... More
