OK, when I say awful I mean it. We felt rushed in an otherwise empty restaurant. The specials were never recite. The food was mediocre at best. Something was terribly wrong with the pasta and the ribs tasted like they came out of one of those vacuum packed sleeves you get at the supermarket. Don't waste your time or money.

We always have to eat at Freemason Abbey's anytime we visit Norfolk!! The building is absolutely stunning, having been renovated from a very old Church! We have always found the service to be great, with friendly and accommodating people working there !....The menu is quite varied with something for any occasion and for everyone!...Prices are affordable! There are specials periodically... More

I actually love this place but the last time we went it was so cold my elderly mother needed to leave even though she had a long skirt on with a long sleeved top! The food is great but service this time wasn't as good as it has been - just make sure you wear warm clothes and you should... More

My wife and I ate here in june 2014. I love the menu, they have something for everyone. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is relaxing. Our waitress was great! I actually have reservations for a few days from now. I have to go back with friends this time!!

The building itself is beautiful, and certainly not something you'd experience at a box chain-restaurant. The stain glass windows, exposed brick, open beams, vaulted ceilings, Tiffany-style lamps....all beautiful. However, the carpeted floors and outdated furnishings were dirty (dust hanging from lamps) and in need of an overhaul. On to the food...The food ranged from not-so-great (their exotic game for this... More

My friend and I stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon after reading about it online. The place was empty which made it fun to look around. We sat in the bar area and had crab soup and wine. The service was ok and the soup was good. All in all it was a fun place to... More

My wife & I were visiting the Chrysler Museum and were looking for a place to eat lunch after the museum. It had been a few years since we had eaten at Freemason Abby. In reviewing Trip Advisor Norfolk restaurant reviews, we read a very nice lunch review for Freemason Abby and decided to go there. My wife had a... More

The freemason Abbey is when I take guest/s for fine dining. It's elegant setting and the quality of the food is conducive for business and a friendly lunch or dinner.

We drove by Freemason Abbey last month and quickly realized that the first time we ate there was right after proposing to my wife in Dec 2000. We had lunch then with family and friends and this time we thought it would be great to rekindle the moment. Our experience was just as pleasant.
