Good food, great atmosphere, needs better servers

First off, Freemason Abbey is a great restaurant with great food and a great atmosphere. However, the servers can do a better job. Today for brunch I saw that they have waffles and they have breaded fried chicken for various breakfast items. With that in mind, I ordered chicken and waffles and the... read more

This was my second trip to Freemason Abbey. The wait staff was excellent and the food was even better. To start the meal I had the crab dip. It was scrumptious. I love the fried seafood platter which also comes broiled. The shrimp and fish were fried golden to perfection! The scallops were delicious! Prices were average for seafood, around... More

Dined here for a business lunch. Good service, good food, decent price. Another favorite place for long time locals.

The building is stunning. The customer service was beyond what you expect. Our waitress was kind, quick, and knowledgeable. The question she didn't know she asked the kitchen and the cook came to the table to answer our question in depth. The food was delicious, the best meal I had in Norfolk. I think the price was what to expect... More

We needed a good restaurant to eat before 9PM as we headed on 95 North from our trip to Charleston and Savannah so this turned out to be a great choice! The interior has stained glass windows, great old lighting fixtures, comfortable wood booths, large windows and a high ceiling and second floor where I imagine the organ was since... More

This is a lovely old building, that I think was possibly a church at one time. It is beautiful inside and out. Lunch is at a reasonable 10.00 range. Food is great! Service is excellent. It's a one of a kind expierence in Norfolk,Va. Also if you are celebrating a special event, let them know and they give you some... More

The building is incredible inside and out. The food was good, but just good. The service was also good, no complaints but not the best either. A definite must visit but would look for new restaurants to explore.

We were on vacation in the Virginia Beach area and saw an ad for Freemason Abbey. It was a little bit of a drive but well worth it. I had the best salmon ever, and the she crap soup was to die for!! Keep up the good work. I would go back in a heart beat.

If you are looking for a good quality dinner with a varied menu at reasonable prices in a comfortable and welcoming unique atmosphere then you should go to the Freemason Abbey. It is an easy walk from most of the downtown hotels and well worth it. As it was previously a church there is a lower floor and also a... More
