We ate at Doumar's It is a very historical drive in in the city of Norfolk. They have great barbecue sandwiches.Tonight however we got the BLT sandwiches. They were very fresh and tasty. We also got a lime aid and orange aid. They were delicious. They also have great burgers and ice cream. It was neat to watch Mr Doumar making waffle cones on the old... This place is just fun! The food is not the best, but it's very inexpensive. They focus on providing an experience, and to that they pass with flying colors. The shakes and ice cream are awesome. The limeade was tasty and the hot sauce is amazing. We had a blast!!

Everyone has to ride over to Doumar's, order from the car hop, and have an ice cream cone with the family. This is where the ice cream cone was invented. The original machine is right out front. Like being back in more innocent times. Whatever you do, please avoid the food. I was served a turkey sandwich that looked more... More

I am a huge proponent for history and longevity. And I love mom n pop places that have made it. I hadn't tried Doumars and was excited to do so. First, parking signage is lacking. Once inside (we didn't do the drive-up) there is limited seating. If you want to order, behind the counter is so busy that you can't... More

Great shakes and the best hot fudge sundae. Old fashioned diner atmosphere. You can sit inside or get curbside service.

The best thing about this restaurant: the waffle cone machine. It's the first ever waffle cone maker in the world, and they still use it to this day! You get to see how they are made, and it is entertaining. The food was offered at a very cheap price, but it was worth the money! Not the best burger and... More

We went for the ice cream and got great, fun service from our car hop! She was very fun and made us laugh. The ice cream treats we all ordered were delicious and everything that we expected based upon what we had read about the place. The only reason for not getting an excellent rating was that we were hassled... More

I went here based on a suggestion in a magazine for BBQ fanatics. Got to be honest the BBQ was just ok. The sides and the Ice Cream were very good. Still a Norfolk landmark. How cool is it to go to an old drive in. Answer: Very. Advertises that it invented the waffle cone going back to St. Louis... More

This drive in claims to be the inventor of the waffle cone for ice cream, and they do have really good ones, with several flavors of delicious ice cream. Burgers and that stuff, too.

Always get a couple barbeque sandwiches with slaw and a large limeade. Always good food. Closed on Sundays.
