Curb side service, good shakes and and all that goes with it. Hot dogs and burgers and fries still served in wax paper whether dining inside or in your car. My favorite thing is their freshly made squeezed limeades, lemonades, and orangeades. A blast from the past

When I am in Norfolk I don't miss Doumar' . My husband and I spent many a high school night sitting at Doumar's and drinking the best milkshakes ever! The shakes and burgers are still good . Try it for the experience if nothing else. It's sure better the fast food joints still.

Doumar's is one of those places if you desire "to go back into time", it's the place to go! It has been around for 100+ years and is unique in atmosphere and nostalgia. If you remember and even miss the fast food places of old that provided curb service, shakes, burgers and fries, and a host of other food offerings... More

Dumars is definitely worthwhile to to visit and eat. There is a limited menu and the ambience is a little bit tacky. Your sandwiches are served wrapped in saran wrap. However the food is tasty and reasonably priced. The milkshakes are out of this world. I definitely would go back.

Back in Norfolk after more years away and Doumar's is exactly as it was in 1967 when I graduated from high school. It's a trip back and worth a visit just for that reason. The bar b que is North Carolina style and good not great but you can't beat the total experience.

Doumar's is a local legend, with lots of nostalgia. If you like pulled pork sandwiches and ice cream, this is the place for you.

Mom & Dad brought me here when I was a child and next year I'll turn 60. I still enjoy stopping in for BBQ & Limeade.

So this place is a left over of the old Drive-In resturants that your parents and their parents grew up going to back in the day. They also have an indoor sitting area where you can sit in booths and get the old school vibe. The staff was welcoming, and the service was decent, but I wasn't that big on... More

It's amazing to know that waffle cones were created by them. (RIP original owner in 2015- saw him once there, great guy!) But the sandwiches are small and average.
