Unique Atmosphere & Great BBQ

This famous Norfolk drive-in is a great little place. Their minced pork barbecue with spicy sauce is really great. Prices are very reasonable, and a great value for what you get. Don't miss the ice cream cones. They are also top notch. It's nothing fancy at all, but a quaint little place filled... read more

Thought it would be a neat place to eat, but it wasn't anything special. The food was average. The service was friendly but not good. Our waitress never wrote anything down and forgot our food twice. Pen and paper goes a long way.

I give it 3.5 stars because it is good--better than 3 stars (average) but not quite 4 stars (very good). It’s not really the food that makes a visit to Doumars a pleasant experience. It is the history and the fact that the place hasn’t changed since sometime, I think, in the 50s. One can see this in the architecture... More

Hey who doesn't like a good ice cream cone? Especially from the guy who invented them! Really. Mr Abe Doumar invented the Ice Cream Cone at the world's fair way back in 1907. You should stop by here at least once in your life if you want a taste of history and how the ice cream waffle cone was invented... More

Landmark drive-in spot known to be the origin of the ice cream cone. Classic car hop service. Americana. Ice cream treats rule here. There's something called the Willy that has hot fudge & bits of the famous ice cream cone. The limeade is fresh squeezed. Burgers were good. Fries fair. I would pass on the BBQ - too ground up... It's really cool to go to a local landmark, which has been in the same place over 70 years. And while the place has been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, we were all less than impressed with the food. Average food for a diner, even. BUT...the service was EXCEPTIONALLY good and the prices were ridiculously low. Do yourself a... More

Want an old time treat? Then visit Doumar's where you can park your car and have the waitstaff come out to take your order. Or you can go inside and see their original ice cream cone making machine and grab a quick bite. It will take you back to the 1950's with it's nostalgic atmosphere.

I thought it would be cool to visit a nostalgic looking venue but the place was not only old but dirty. Lots of flies at time of visit. After eating their food I ended up with a cold sore on my mouth. The place did not look sanitary and I regret eating the food against my better judgment. I will... More

Don't expect fancy or snotty dining Stil looks the same since it was built, a real treat to sit in this diner. Fascinated seeing the kerb service don't get anything like this in UK Ordered a cone ice cream and an ice cream float both good Just a great experience, one to tick off the must do list
