Good but lacking in atmosphere.

The restaurant is somewhat old fashioned. The food was good but the service was overbearing and somewhat too formal.

Dear Customer. We appreciate your opinion as well as your visit at our house. It is true that our little corner is a little dated, it's a home with 35, is a landmark of our city Canico, which is also a meeting point of Madeiran immigrants as well as other municipalities of Madeira, where we try to maintain its image... After a change of management 2 years ago this restaurant went down hill but a year ago it changed hands again and things have really looked up. Probably one of the best steaks I have eaten on the island. Service was first class and the bill was very reasonable. Looking forward to our next visit.

The restaurant was cold, there was damp mould on the ceiling and a bad smell. The food is pretty standard. Won't be visiting again

Dear Customers: We appreciate your reviews and suggestions so we can improve our service and hospitality. The mold that was on your table, had already been detected and is currently being cleaned and repaired, could not be earlier, due to the cold that was as well as the moisture holding inside the buildings in general here in island. The smell... More

Was not bad, but no fancy cooking. Calamares were so hard that I had to give them back. They proposed me for the same price something else. I took fish.

During our stay in Canico we tried all the restaurants in Estrada da Ponta da Oliveira and this was our favourite one, with the best menu, reasonable prices and the most charming and hospitable waiter. He seemed to be able to switch at different tables between very good english, german and french, as well as being portuguese himself, which was... More

We ended up eating here several times on our recent trip. Tried several things on the menu and it was all excellent, and served in a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. I particularly liked their take on the Madeira local specialty of scabbard with banana and passion fruit sauce. The homemade caramel pudding was a dream! The seafood spaghetti was the best... More

We visited this restaurant for dinner while on holiday and enjoyed the meal and the service so much that we returned on two other evenings. The restaurant had a good atmosphere and the waiter was very helpful in describing the various dishes and helping us choose some good Portuguese wine to have with our meals. We all had the steak... We were visiting Canico from Funchal just for a day out and decided to have a good lunch here. We were not disappointed. The waiter was charming, spoke very good English and nothing was too much trouble. We all had bolo de caco, then espetadas for three and a pasta dish with accompanying drinks, followed by desserts and coffee. The... More

Excellent staff and beautiful food. I would highly recommend you try the "steak on the stone" and the homemade cassata!

We ate here 4 times and every time the food was very good and the waiters were very professional and friendly. The steak on a stone is a must, it's a nice experience and also very tasty. I absolutely recommend this place.
