We were visiting Canico from Funchal just for a day out and decided to have a good lunch here. We were not disappointed. The waiter was charming, spoke very good English and nothing was too much trouble. We all had bolo de caco, then espetadas for three and a pasta dish with accompanying drinks, followed by desserts and coffee. The... More

Excellent staff and beautiful food. I would highly recommend you try the "steak on the stone" and the homemade cassata!

We ate here 4 times and every time the food was very good and the waiters were very professional and friendly. The steak on a stone is a must, it's a nice experience and also very tasty. I absolutely recommend this place.

This is situated in the church square Canico Madeira, and has not long changed management. So decided to re patronise and found it of excellent value, service was prompt and food of the highest standard.

We recently returned from Canico and visited Lareira Restaurant twice. Our last visit was four years ago so we were hoping that the food would still be top notch! Although the restaurant has changed hands we were not disappointed....the espada and espetada on our first visit were excellent choices just as we remembered them. We started out by sitting outside... More

We liked this place. The staff were very friendly and the food good and reasonably priced. It was as another (less favourable) reviewer noted a bit chilly in the evening, but it was February when we went so really no complaints. We visited twice, sitting outside for lunch and inside in the evening.

I reviewed this restaurant positively 2 years ago because of its superb steak flambe. We went back on a recent visit to Madeira to taste the flambe again. Unfortunately it had changed hands and they don't do the steak flambe anymore. The place was cold and pretty empty. We had reasonable tomato soup - a bit greasy. I had the... More

Extremely bad service, very long waiting time, rude staff... And a waiter asked me: "what do you expect for such a small price?" There are much better restaurants on Madeira.

I like the position of this restaurant! Is in Canico Center , opossite the Church and the cemetery, and if you stay on the terrace you get all the local athmosphere! I like the bread-bolo do caco, the Poncha, the local bread soup with an eg, the people!
