After surviving the deeply dark mountainous trek to get to Greve in Chianti, we were sorely in need of some comfort and food. We found both at Gallo Nero. The food was exciting and wonderful, the wine and grappa excellent and the company of the staff as friendly as we found on our entire trip. One young lady even went... More

We had a very nice dinner experience at Gallo Nero. We learned it was a family run restaurant with each member of the family doing a different job. The grandmother prepares the pasta dishes which are excellent and the pork and wild boar dishes were delicious. The beef dishes were also very good but if you want your beef well-done... More

Stopped by Gallo Nero for dinner a few nights ago during our stay in Greve in Chianti. My fiancee and her family had been to a previous incarnation of this restaurant about 7 years ago. Under a new name, we decided to stop in this trip, and we sure are glad we did. The food was excellent, the service was... More

We read about this place on TA and it lived up to its reviews. The service was really attentive and friendly - we had 3 different servers attending to us throughout the evening. The space with the beautiful brick arches was really fascinating. I had the ravoli with pumpkin and pear - yum! My husband had a porcini mushroom pasta... More

We have been to this place previously a couple of years ago and decided to go again when we saw Vitello on the menu. This is an unscale place with lots of ambiance and class, but not so much expensive to prohibit going there. The menu choice was good as was the wine which was fairly reasonable. The service good... This review is particularly aimed at English-speaking visitors to Greve-in-Chianti. Located at the entrance to Greve's main piazza, Gallo Nero offers a delectable menu of traditional dishes ranging from ribolita, a hearty soup, to the steak Fiorentina, grilled just as you like it--preferably rare and juicy. Service is by a friendly family staff who does everything possible to make your... More
