Aurelio is a great host, and not a bad maker of granita which he showed us had been voted second best in all Italy. From our tasting, richly deserved, along with the lovely tasting brioche. The bar is very much part of the locality and an experience not to be missed.

While walking we accidentally found bar Roma. Quaint little shop. The owner is quite the character and brings charm to the experience. Great granite.

This has been featured in some BBC food programmes, so it achieved a certain notoriety. But it is well-deserved, the granita is just sublime. But there is nothing else on offer, apart from the ubiquitous caffe. Well worth a visit just for the granita. Don't be put off by the harbour surroundings.

On a beautifully warm Sunday morning, my friends and I went to the waterfront and had the best lemon slush I've had since my childhood growing up in upstate NY with Sicilians. Absolutely pure and done by a man who respects the perfection of his natural ingredients: Lemon, sugar, and water. And what a charmer he is, too! Thanks, Aurelio!
