Good food and close to the harbour

Within walking distance of our hotel and reasonably-priced. Unfortunately the house red was not available that night. The menu is one of those gaudy touristic ones and slightly off-putting. The food was fine. The wine we chose was fine. Service was fine. The restaurant was busy by late evening... read more

This restaurant was packed the evening we went; it was standing room only after we were seated (luckily). We had an assortment of small fish that I boned at the table. We ordered pasta and white wine as well. (Their prices were fair but it was the proximity to our hotel that made this restaurant a good place for us.)... More

The restaurant was a great surprise as the exterior is simple and lost on a dusty harbour road. The atmosphere is great and friendly, the food excellent. Definitely a must.

This place is one of the recommendations of the lonely planet for traditional local food. Our experience was terrible. The antipasto di mare one assorted fish plate with eight varieties of fish starts had just two eatable ones, the cuscus and the sardines, all others were hard to eat. The pasta with sardine and the fettuccine with fresh fish filet... More

And the food was very good, the wait staff excellent, and a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours eating and drinking the local wine. Although very close to the sea, no view, in fact could easily have driven by it was not really very obvious it was a restaurant, but like most trattoria's in Italy, it was... More

This is a small, Harbor side, trattoria serving mostly simple seafood dishes. Nothing fancy, but really authentic and of excellent quality. If you want some pasta with bottarga, pasta with seafood, freshly grilled fish .... . We enjoyed it a lot. Whenever I would be in the neighborhood again, I wouldn't hesitate.

Al Faro suffers from not having a terrace and being on a busy corner but the food is fantastic, the service charming, the portions generous and the value outstanding. The dining room is spacious with no intrusion from the street. You can taste the passion of the chefs in every mouthfull. Argueably the best in town.

While driving from Segesta to Agrigent we felt the need for a little lunch so came across a recommendation for 'al faro'. We expected actually a place at the harbour with a view to the lighhouse - so we a bit disappointed to see that al faro is a restaurant in the 2nd row to the seaside. Inside we just... More

This place serves very tasty and good value food in a pleasant setting, has a menu in several languages and is easy to find (at the bottom if a long set of stairs leading down towards the harbour - we parked in the car park above the harbour and walked down the steps). We had a lunch of : fresh... More
