Historic Bacharach

We ate lunch here. We must have missed the main lunchtime rush, because walking into the courtyard we were a bit confused as to where to look to get served, but we had a lovely soup. A quiet and historic spot.

Great wines and great meal with new Dutch friends. We spent over 3 hours here on a Sunday night enjoying the food and company only to find that our total bill including wine, meal, dessert, more wine was around $50 for the two of us.....what a great deal for wonderful food and wine.

This is a beautiful, quiet village along the Rhine. The food was delicious, but the setting was much calmer than you experience in the more popular German attractions. This was quite relaxing, and in the afternoon we swam in the Rhine at the beach near the campground. The hiking to the castle hostel is worthwhile, and the views are spectacular.... More

We visited this restaurant to have hot drink one afternoon (August 2015). The courtyard situation was pleasant and the quality of the drinks was fine BUT we were surprised and disappointed to find that when we paid 0.80cents had been added to the bill for the milk to be added to the tea! We were not informed of this extra... More

We ate here two nights in a row, something we rarely do when we travel. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was good and reasonably priced. It's in a lovely courtyard setting, below the St Werner Chapel ruin, A very relaxing dinner, and the ice cream shop across the street has wonderful ice Cream!

My family visited this restaurant due to the open air courtyard after other outdoor options disappeared for our family of six. The menu consists of three traditional meat courses (roast beef, pork, and steak) along with many sausage options. The highlight are the flatbreads. There are even a few children's options, although the pricing is reasonable for all dishes making... More

We visited for dinner on Thursday night. Service was very very slow even for European standards. 20 minutes between getting menus and seeing a server again. Nice view of the church and church ruins. Food was average, not good. Our server was forgetful and did not seem to be waiting on too many tables. I would not return.

This is where we disembarked from an afternoon on the Rhine. Bacharach is a late medieval village worth visiting for itself – lots of half-timbered buildings, little shops, pubs and restaurants, a tad touristy but not overdone. We stopped at a courtyard beer garden, Posthof Bacharach, for a refreshing wheat beer and a glass of white wine from Bacharach Hahn,... More

My husband and I ate dinner here on a warm night in July. We found a table in the courtyard under a huge umbrella. Menus were brought over, and then we waited a long time for service. As others have noted, the restaurant seemed to be a bit understaffed, although the server we had was perfectly friendly. We ordered glasses... More

We had lunch at Posthauf Bacharach July 8 and really enjoyed ourselves. The resto has been recommended to us by a couple we chatted with that morning on a Rhein cruise. We sat in the delightful, ancient courtyard and enjoyed freshly made sausages seasoned with fresh herbs, the flamme kitchen, and a delightful Riesling "tronken" by Toni Jost. the Toni... More
