Came to the Crab Shack with out of town family to celebrate family member birthday. View was great as the sun set over the James river. We all ended up ordering different meals along with a couple of appetizers. All the meals were A+. Best review I can say all out of town family members want to come back the... More

We ate here based on a suggestion given to us and it did not disappoint. My son wanted to eat seafood on or close to the water and we were directed to Crab Shack. We ate "outside" which is patio like with open windows and ceiling fans. You are right by the bridge so we saw several boats. The food... More

Crab Shack has been in this location for many years. Well known by the locals, this restaurant has always delivered the goods. Fresh fish and produce prepared in a light and healthy way. The wait staff are friendly and eager to please. Casual decor and affordable prices makes the Crab Shack a perfect "nice" lunch stop. The icing on the... More

I was surprised that I had never been to this restaurant before, even though I was born and raised in Virginia. I ordered a dozen of crabs and ate them all! The food and atmosphere was perfect and my waitress was very nice and timely. I will definitely come back the next time I come home to visit in the... More

My friends and I received rave reviews about this place. We stopped by and it was moderately full on a Friday evening. We ordered some assorted including a seafood platter. Everything was really good but it was a little over sauced. Still a pretty fun place to visit.

The location of the restaurant is on the James River fishing pier (the longest fishing pier on the east coast) and directly adjacent to the James River Bridge. The views from the patio and dining room are fantastic. We arrived just after sunset and the colors in the sky over the James River were stunning. Fireflies had just come out... More

Views were spectacular. Food was great. A MUST VISIT! I had the shrimp and the she crab soup. Waitress was slow to fill tea...but who cares with the river view sights.

This restaurant is on the old James River Bridge which is now a pier as the new James River Bridge is nearby. The view is great looking up the 5 1/2 miles wide river as we sat outside enjoying the lunch Sunday afternoon. The crab cake was nice and big , slaw was good and I did not need the... More

Ate at the crab shack for a dinner meeting. the view was outstanding and the service was very good. a tad pricey, but not unreasonable. the best part of my meal was the crab dip appetizer. Don't pass it up. If you get crab cakes, get them fried not broiled. They are very thick and need the extra heat. very... More

8 of us met here for dinner and none of us were disappointed! The view of the river is fantastic but it was too hot for us to consider sitting out on the porch. Our waitress was very pleasant & helpful and the service was excellent. Our group ordered scallops, softshell crabs, fried shrimp, fried oysters, grilled tilapia and teriakya... More
