St Patrick's Day Lunch!

All of our group of 14 enjoyed their lunches today off the special St Patrick's Day menu! We had Ruebens, Turkey Ruebens, Irish Subs, Corned beef and Cabbage, Crab cakes, potato salad, seasoned french fries, green beer, Bloody Marys and Irish coffee. The place was very busy but our waiter was... read more

Mike's Place is a Newport News tradition and I have been there many times before, but Mike sold it a year and a half ago, so was not sure what to expect. While looking over the "same old same Old" I discovered an Irish Sub! Had it served hot with slaw (instead of fries) and I must say it was... More

Before going to a show at the Ferguson Center at CNU we stopped with another couple for dinner. We had never been to Mike's Place but the other couple had been there before. The restaurant/pub was truly set for the Irish. Green everywhere with lots of wood. The bar was well stocked and there were tables and booths. We sat... More

I have been going there for over 30 years but had not been back since i moved 2 years ago. Food was always pretty good but a bit pricey for a pub atmosphere. After my most recent visit I was shocked at how high the prices have shot up. The drink prices are outrageous as well. Service was good but... More

Mike sold the place about a year ago. The new owner hasn't been as visible, but the place is still great quality. I love their steaks, and their burgers, but everything I've tried there has been great.

This local Irish restaurant has always been one of my favorite spots but the new family that owns it have kept the best things that the original owner always served (for those of you that loved Mike and Kippe) but at the same time, there is a new fresh atmosphere and great new concoctions that you'll love to try out.... I noticed most of the reviews here were quite dated, so I thought I would post something new. I stopped by for lunch with my wife after reading a review in the Daily Press. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and treated very warmly by our server, Wendy. We noticed they had a very good list of... More

We picked it based on Urbanspoon which had told us it was a seafood place. It did have seafood offerings but it was more of a bar. We were there with our kids on a Friday and there were a few people that probably were there since work had ended and were a little loud and over served. I had... More

Had a recent dinner here with the wife and friends and enjoyed our visit. The food was good and the portions were above average. The service was average. The restaurant has an Irish theme, but not many Irish dishes on the menu, and many of the customers are locals knowing each other by name. The night we dined, the place... More
