Down a little side street, chez fred doesn't look that appealing as you pass. A lovely get away from the heaving masses on the front in summer and in a lovely shaded spot means you can relax in here. Not too big so you don't get forgotten by overbusy waiters, like others places on the main street, it has a... More

My wife and I happened upon the restaurant, looking for something different than the typical quay touristy place. Chez Fred is a delight. Fabulously fresh fish with incredible sauces! We shared two appetizers and one main -- raie, which was cooked perfectly. The service was very good on this quiet weekday summer evening. The next day we brought along our... More

We were served by a very helpful waitress who spoke good english and had Raie (Skate) and John Dory at here recommendation. We like fish and the servings were generous and very good, but at €25 - 35 for each entree course we thought it expensive. Wine list pricey too and the house wine nothing special. We were pleased to... More

We were looking for Raie (Skate, Ray or Stingray) on the menu. Ile de Re is one of the few places to find it. This place is tucked up a little alley of the port. Nice sized contemporary dining room with wine bar. Very fresh fish and shell fish of all kinds, the chef even brought out a live fish... More

Super local restaurant - we decided to forego an entree as we had over eaten all week ( thats what happens in france) which is just as well as a hearty slab of course pork pate and a basket full of fresh white bread soon arrived as a very hefty amuse bouche. It was yummy. I had John dory (known... More

Gorgeous food here. The trio of fish was delicious as was the creme brûlée. Mainly fish menu with a good choice with higher than average prices. Tables outside were in an attractive alleyway which in St Martin meant a charming location. Although you could walk through, most pedestrians walked around. However one noisy Parisian motorcyclist intrusively rode straight through past... More

Had a lunch for three and ordered the Chef's suggestion menu at 39 euros (a good sample of various fishes cooked at their best : it was simply delicious and well in line if not above many Michelin starred restaurants. Service was swift and courteous perhaps due to the fact that we had arrived quite early and it was not... More

We have eaten at this wonderful restaurant many times and recently had a birthday celebration for my husband where we took over the restaurant for a private party for 50. Normally when we dine here we have the chef's tasting menu, which is a little more expensive than using the regular menu but it is always innovative, delicious and sometimes... More
