Seafood platter is good

Hadn't been here for a couple of years but autumn sunshine encouraged us to go. Too cold to sit outside but went for the cooked seafood platter. Lots of food and takes almost 2 hours to eat so leave yourself plenty of time! Crab, prawns, langoustines all good, bulot surprisingly good but way too... read more

Stopped by here in the afternoon like a typical North American who forgets that many things in Europe close between 2 and7 pm. We were referred to Le Belem by some very friendly locals. it was roughly 2:30 pm when we sat down outside on a lovely day. Service was quick and cordial. the Wine was a local white that... More

We chose Le Belem the first night as we had travelled all day and were starving and this restaurant was one of the few along the quayside that was open for dinner at 6.30pm. The food was so good that we ended up eating there every night of our 3-night stay. We particularly loved the fish stew served in a... More

This was our second visit to Le Belem, The first being a few years ago. The fact that we returned is proof of how good our experience was first time round. We were not disappointed on our latest visit. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced and the staff were friendly and efficient. For a second time this restaurant... More

Facing the port of st Martin de Re some douzens of restaurant compete to attract tourists. Generally spoken the food is fairly good to acceptable. Belem is one of them. The terrace is very enjoyable to sit with a nice view on the port and the promenade. Rather expensive for the food quality served,

Has a nice lunch here today. Nice oysters, rose wine and some gravlax. Oysters not presented on ice as is per usual, but tasty. Service was good and there is nice umbrella coverage from sun and intermittent rain. Nothing out of the ordinary, but certainly a respectable lunch.

We only ate breakfast here, but it was lovely. Great coffee and fresh bread and croissant. Great value for money at 7.80 euros

It was packed when we turned up on a Saturday afternoon but waited for a table. Service was friendly and very efficient, coping well with my husband's very limited French (i.e. "oui" is about it!). I had the soup de poisson en croute which was absolutely delicious. My husband's steak was great, as was my son's moules. Very good. Not... More

Glad I ate here before reading the reviews! Waiting staff were excellent, friendly attentive and knowledgable. We ordered from the fixed prix €26 menu. We both had fish soup which was great. I had sea bass, beautifully cooked with berre blanc and veg. Steven opted for cod in ham, perfectly cooked near translucent cod loin. Sweet was almond cake with... More

Title says it all. Merely adequate but great location. La Marine's new owner next door sets a higher standard but Le Belem is perfectly ok.
