Ile de Re #1, deservedly so

This is a beautiful resto with a terrace overlooking the charming port in La Flotte, although it was a bit chilly for al fresco dining.. Everything was perfect .... 2 amuses, a salmon tartare and a small asperges velouté. The entrees were amazing, one was a salad of small beautifully seared slices... read more

We stumbled across this place after getting fed up sitting in a traffic jam waiting to enter La Rochelle. We just wanted somewhere to have a pleasant lunch before driving south wards towards Bordeaux, so an excursion to the Ile de Re seemed a good idea. We'd not read any reviews before arriving on the island and La Flotte seemed... More

Again a visit here on a trip to La Rochelle. Went by bus to La Flotte- but note it no longer goes into the town as it did two years ago but drops you a 10 minute walk away. This restaurant never disappoints- though if you do not want the sun on you, you will need to make sure you... More

The restaurant has been rewarded by the Michelin Guide, and lives up to that standard. Cosy, relaxing, quiet, pleasant, top professional and discreet employees, no rush and no "pushing" the beverage ( excellent wines ) consommation. The menu card is ,just what it should be : a nice variety and a convenient limited choice, guaranteeing that way that all food... More

This was a real find. I suggest making a reservation if you would like a table outside. The food was excellent. The staff very attentive. The bill for two was about £160...but worth it. There are equally good restaurants in St Martin de re and in Ars en Re, but without a doubt this is the best in La Flotte

The food and service are excellent at this restaurant. We started our meal outside, but as the evening cooled the staff were happy for us to move inside the cosy restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. It may seem expensive, but you get what you pay for!

I visited this restaurant with my wife for lunch. My wife heard from her friend that this restaurant was nicest three years ago, then we decided to visit there. As expected, the meals were nice, especially, I loved a kind of mixture of raw fish with vegetable. The mixture of grilled fish of today was also nice (red mullet was... More

To celebrate a special birthday with friends whilst holidaying in La Flotte we booked into L'Ecailler. We have been to La Flotte many times but never dined here as it is on the pricey side for an everyday meal. However for a celebration - well worth it! Lovely ambience, we sat inside as still a bit breezy in May to... More

This is one of our favourite restaurants anywhere. Great ambience and attentive service. Specialising in fresh fish dishes. Last visit we had soufflés which were extraordinary. It is expensive but it isn't pretentious, just well done.
