Deceitfully busy and cheap

Not knowing where to go for a meal in Fécamp, we ended up here because it looked pleasantly busy. When we took our seats we were rushed into deciding what to eat. During the meal the numerous staff seemed to always be 'lurking' near our table to check whether we had finished. They asked us three... read more

Had a late dinner around 2030. Attracted by the red colour of Le Progres and the outdoor seating. But as was a cold night, we chose seats inside. Menu around Euro 13 to 15 only included main, dessert and drink! I picked fried salmon, you could choose different sauces and side dishes. I ordered red wine though having fish. The... More

We had a great meal here for €18 a head. We thought it was superb value for generous portions of seafood. We both started with moules, which arrived in huge pots, and would have been sufficient as a whole meal. Then followed sole, Dover sole, which was simply served with steamed potatoes or fries, and cream sauce. Desserts were also... More

I was really surprised to read the bad reviews, our party of four had a good evening yesterday at this idiosyncratic and bustling restaurant. Our party had for starters: fruits de mer, langoustines, assiette anglaise (charcouterie), and mixed salad. Main course: 3 x poulet normande , 2 with sauce, and one quail. All were excellent. We were pleasantly surprised to... More

The place was crowdy so we though "this may be a good sign". What a mistake! The food is just terribl and untasty: appetizer and entrée. Don't waste you money here...It's just a terrible place to eat. Le restaurant était plein, nous avons donc pensé que c'était bon signe. Quelle erreur! La nourriture est juste horrible et sans gout, Entrée... More

The quality of the sea fruit is superb. Great grey shrimps, half crab, oister, clamps and other shelfish. The menu is cheap, 23 euro for this fruit the mer, a steak or small sole and a desert. Dont take the standard wine, but a better bottle. The decoration, service and bathroom are very French. Not for the faint at heart... More

The hour was late and most restaurants were closed, so we settled for this sorry excuse for a brasserie. Our wine order had to be repeated three times before the bottle was put on our table (tasting or pouring was apparently not an option). For the main dish we chose fish of the day, which was sole. We asked specifically... More

Friday night in Fecamp is not quite as lively as you might imagine. This place was not our first choice but we were welcomed in when other places had said it was too late. The service was a little slow to start but picked up. Once the wine and bread arrived things just got better. We were told to ask... More

I was surprised to read previous reviews of this restaurant, most of which seem to be very negative. We had a pre-booked table, and had the "menu du jour" which was very reasonably priced at just under €15,00 - my wife's starter was fresh prawns which she said were the plumpest and tastiest she had eaten recently - the main... I was at that restaurant on the 30th October 2012. We went at lunchtime as it was full maybe it was very good food. Well stir well clear of it, it is really disgusting. The boss is not a nice person maybe the wife is OK but the food! we had the fish of the day... it was frozen tough... More
