Situated at the summit of the medieval town of Domme, on the Esplanade, which dominates the Dordogne valley. From the restaurant, which is shaded in harmonious yellow and blue to the rooms with antique furniture, you can experience and enjoy the Dordogne thanks to cuisine based on the flavours of the south-west intensified by inventive notes.

Not worth the price

The food is very sophisticated, sometimes too much, nicely put on the plate but very small portions and nothing to write home about. The view from the resturant is amazing.

I have provided details of the restaurant and our meal in my hotel review, but suffice to say that if you enjoy food and eating, you will have a truly wonderful experience!

This is my second experience at this restaurant, first one goes back several years. In my first visit I stayed at the hotel too but this was just a quick day trip and we were as impressed as before. As before the service and meal were absolute among the very best I have ever enjoyed! The ingredients are obviously fresh... More

The dinner we had at the restaurant was exquisite. See hotel review. I suggest reading the review we posted on hotel sight for further information

We spotted this delightful restaurant on our first visit to Domme at the beginning of our stay in Cenac-et-St-Julien and decided it was just the place for my birthday lunch. We were not disappointed. We were able to sit out on the terrace with the most remarkable views and enjoy a superbly cooked and beautifully presented three course meal. Service... More

The location is a winner, the setting is elegant the service is polite and attentive and the food is great. It all came out to a dinner we loved! At first we had some aperitif in the balcony over the amazing valley views which put us in the right mood. The dinner it self was well prepared and very enjoyable.... More

Charming place to spend the night but not a lot of amenities for the price. Small room (decent bathroom) you even have to carry your suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. But you're paying for the view which is magnificent: perched atop a tiny picturesque town, it's really lovely.

Came for lunch, sat on the outdoor terrace with glorious views over the river and surrounding countryside. Chose to have a la carte rather than the set menus (which are actually always better value in France); for starters we had the calamari salad, guinea fowl and lamb as our mains. Two starters, 2 mains, 2 glasses of wine and 2... More

France is supposed to be great for food but time and time again we have been disappointed. The very expensive restaurants frankly have excelled at charging rather than cooking and the 'everyday' restaurants I am afraid to say could learn a lot from other parts of Europe. Nice therefore to find a restaurant, between the two, which delivered. The restaurant... More

I can easily see why reviews of this restaurant swing to one extreme or the other -- most are very positive, but a minority are highly critical. Unfortunately, I must join the critical voices. L'Esplanade occupies THE prime location in Domme, one of the Dordogne's most charming hill towns. From the outdoor terrace, it offers a splendid panoramic view of... More
