The restaurant Sanglier des Ardennes and the annex Bistro Chez Fred (bit cheaper) are really good destinations for gourmets. The quality of food is in comparison to other restaurants in Durbuy excellent. Although the service is professional but impersonal and the interior of the bistro is a bit bizzar and very modern the food is very good. Try the traditional... More

Durbuy really is a small gem in the middle of the Ardennes, and boy, do the Belgians know how to cook (and enjoy!) their mails. Totally unexpected did I eat the best -and huge- t-bone I ever had. The portions are large (but not oversized USA fast food style), fresh and very tasteful. Not sure if I ever get back... More

We have been going to this restaurant for some time, but it started to get a bit boring.. No change of menu and the food quality going down. I went twice this month and was pleased to see new creations on the menu and the quality back to where it was originally. Staff treat you very well, a pleasure all... More

I returned from Durbuy a few hours ago. The weather was ideal, and I walked along the Ourthe (river) for an hour or so. There were so many kayaks, with colorful inflated coats (for protection), I decided to have my lunch, and as usual, at Le Sanglier, but today at the suggestion of the Maitre d'Hotel, (who served me a... The weather was ideal to drive to Ardenne. For a change, we chose Durbuy. There, we decided to have lunch at "Le Sanglier des Ardennes" a beautiful hotel-restaurant, overlooking the river in Durbuy, named,"The Smallest Town of the World". Although we have not been there for ages, Mr. Cardinael, the owner, who is at the same time the owner of... More

Beautiful restaurant, good service, beautiful presentation. Overall a good experience but we had better meals at restaurants much less expensive. The sweetbread entree was very good but the rest were slightly above average. At 50-75 euro/person I had hoped for a better overall experience.

see my seperate review of hotel where i also talked about restaurant, but short version: family of four with two teenagers ate at 'fancy' high end restaurant in back (rather than 'cafe' in front) had multi-course 'gastronomique' menu ($75pp) food exceptional, every course, every bite maitre'd very attentive although young servers not very experienced (although eager) took good care of...
