We had the steak tenderloin and chimichurri. Both were excellent but chimichurri was the better of the two. Small salad came with it, lettuce a bit wilted. Fresh bread was delicious served with a celery relish. We were doubtful until we tried it and then sat there trying to figure out how to make it at home. Atmosphere can get... More

We're not being meat eaters and didn't go for the legendary steaks. We both ordered fish dishes which were great. I had the local special fried fish and the better half ordered something with capers. The wine list looked good, but with just us two we ordered by the glass. We didn't have reservations though the night we went, the... More

We visited based on our guide's recommendation fellow traveller and the reviews, I am so glad we did. I ordered rare tenderloin and it arrived cooked to perfection, a decent size and very tasty, as was my wife's choice also. It came with just the right amount of vegetables and then the rice option. $50 covered salads, breads, mains, desserts,... More

We had a very nice dinner at El Zaguan and enjoyed the lively atmosphere. This very large restaurant was really busy when we were there on a Friday night, yet the waiters and cook staff seemed to keep pace. The extra thick steak done in a fruit sauce was our favorite. There are many choices on the wine list as... More

We ate at this restaurant several times. The beef was especially good and it was fresh off the grill. It was served with a variety of sauces and vegetables - we always had a scrumptious meal. Unfortunately I did not tried the local fish from Lago de la Nicaragua, but I heard it is good. They also have a smoking... More

I've visited El Zaguan a couple of times now. I did so just to make sure my first impression was not a fluke. As I had heard they had some of the tastiest meats in Granada, I ordered the Jalapeño stake. And while it WAS good, it really wasn't the best I've ever had. And the price... :-| Well, just... More

This restaurant was recommended by a local friend. This is their favorite place in Granada. We were pleased to have gone there. A great ambiance, strolling guitar, professional service, quality food, local gourmet flavor! I had the excellent skirt steak, the rest going for fish. We all raved abut our meals. Don't miss this when in Granada.

... and get the skirt or flank steak. Ask them to seat you in the back in the open air courtyard - the seating towards the front of the restaurant is nice but does not have as nice of an ambiance.

Yes, the place likely is hopping and noisy, particularly on weekends and holidays. And yes, the food does not immediately appear on your table. Not hardly. But for a terrific value on quite good carne, I have not found any place better in Granada and no better value perhaps anywhere on beef. This seems to me best described as a... More

The food was absolutely amazing! I grew up getting steaks from my grandparents' farm, but I have to say this was one of the best steaks I had ever had. It's a bit pricey for Nicaragua, but in my opinion, completely worth it. My only complaint was that the service wasn't great. Our server seemed annoyed when I would ask... More
