We had friends tell us to be sure and stop by the restaurant here after touring all the wonderful sites. What a good suggestion. We arrived only 10 minutes before they were closing for a private party, but the host and waiter could not have been more friendly! They seated us by the comfortable fire....real...not a gas fake. Te waiter... More

My husband and I enjoyed lunch at the Inn last Friday. The wait staff provided superior service. The food was delicious, hot and wide variety of choices. The turkey pye was outstanding. Locally brewed root beer cold and refreshing. Decorated nicely for the holidays and a table near the fireplace made for a romantic setting. Not inexpensive, but worth the... More

The environment is lovely and the food was very good. I tried the Hot Brown which was very good and do not miss the bread pudding. Another in our party really enjoyed the shrimp grits. The service is exceptional and we were so glad that we had time to go there while at the site.

Ate for the second time at the restaurant in Mt. Vernon, and had a "brunch". The omelets are excellent, and the fruit bowl was delicious. My son had french toast that he said was superb, and my wife the farmer's breakfast which she also enjoyed immensely. The staff, the ambience of the location, and the service were delightful! The Christmas... More

I booked a reservation here prior to a candlelight tour of the house, however after reading some reviews on here I began to worry. Those concerns were put to ease the moment we sat down. Charming historic atmosphere, festive Christmas decor helped set the stage for a great visit. Our waiter greeted us warmly and professionally, he made us feel... More

We're neighbors and recently found this gem. Thanks for a wonderful place we can walk to. Love Anthony the bar tender, and Aisha the server as well as baked Mac and cheese and all fish dishes.

We ate dinner from the Sunday brunch menu and we weren't dissapointed. You can't beat the atmosphere being at Mt Vernon. However the food was pleasantly surprising. The fried chicken is a must have! Meat loaf to die for! Grits, the best. All homemade and perfect. We're from L.A. so we don't get a lot of comfort food, but I... More

Visited for a late lunch. They do a good job creating a colonial atmosphere showing typical historic Virginia spirit. Servers are in appropriate costumes. We got seated at a table by the fireplace. It was a Friday afternoon before Thanksgiving but some Christmas decoration was already noticeable here and there which seems a bit too early. The menu offers something... More

I'm a frequent Mount Vernon Inn visitor and find their dinners are very tasty, if a bit overpriced. The servers are always very accommodating and the food is usually quite tasty. The last meal I had there was a NY Strip Steak that was perfectly done. This is the type of restaurant that you visit on a special event, but... More
