Very good pesto pasta, crab and corn fritters, mussels, etc. One of the best meals we have had! Thank you for the great service Sue.

We arrived and the restaurant was not even half filled and after standing at the door for 5 minutes without being greeted, someone rushed to the host stand, asked if we had called ahead and when we said we hadn't we were told they were understaffed and it would be 20 mins before they could seat us. That is understandable... More

Blackwater Café is our go-to restaurant at Smith Mt. Lake for special occasions. The atmosphere, staff, service and food are very good. Recently, I had a surprise party for my wife's 50th birthday. We had 40 people there and everyone was complimentary of the whole evening. I highly recommend this family owned restaurant!

I eat at the Blackwater Cafe quite often. The food is always good and the management and staff are friendly and welcoming. Chef Cara often talks with guests about the menu. You can eat outside on the patio or choose from a semi-formal or informal setting.

The environment comes across as inviting and on the upper scale. The service was good but the food was worse than average. The filet mignon was tender but tasteless like the mashed potatoes. The mahi mahi just didn't taste good. The only positive thing I have to say about the food was the bread. For the price of the meal,... More

Our dining experience is always Grand at The Blackwater Cafe. The Owners (Tom & Lynn Gordon) insure that your food quality and enjoyment are superb as they, their son John (Manager) or his wife Miranda, are always there to greet you as you come to the door....usually opening the door as you walk up. The staff are equally superb in... More

First the good: We went to celebrate a graduation. New to the area, we ran a little late and the restaurant was very accommodating - called to check and were pleasant about our delayed arrival. We also had to add a person at the last minute - they added a place at our table which made it a little cozy... More

I am very sorry for our poor performance. I was there that night but didn't hear of any issues. We strive to meet everyone's expectations but I know it is very difficult. Your concerns are valid and I am embarrassed. Please contact me via our website or phone so I can make this up to you and your guests. I... More

Every time I go there, I get exceptional food and friendly service. Atmosphere is comfortable. There are other fine dining areas at the lake, (not many, but a few). And your welcome to try them, but this place is the only place that combines good food with good servers and owners. Others have one or the other, not both. Only... More

Just got back from SML. Food was excellent at blackwater. I had the appetizer Spicy Shrimp and Grits entree size and my husband had pappardelle bolognese. They were both delicious. Their walnut mustard dressing on the mixed green salad was amazing. Great priced yummy martinis on the weekends. My only complaint would be that although our server was really nice... More
