I'm a native Washingtonian, and just about every childhood memory about Middleburg, VA, somehow involved staying at or dining at the Red Fox Inn. Smack center in the heart of town, you can't beat the location. As the oldest running Inn in the country --going back to the 1700's you can't help but enjoy being a thumbprint on history when... We have tried numerous time to eat at this restaurant and have been told sorry we aren't taking anyone but hotel guests for breakfast. Well then don't advertise. I have eaten with and without reservations as well. Lunch is just ok and sometimes dinner is inspired. But you never know what you are going to get. They also really cater... More

The lovely historic setting does not make up for the average meal. It is a shame that more care is not put into the food served here.

The Red Fox Inn is a wonderful restaurant where you feel like you are stepping back in time. I have eaten there at least three times and the food I'd always good. I have had brunch, lunch and dinner at the Inn. You usually need a reservation, but they can sometimes accommodate a walk in diner. The staff is very... More

Went for dinner with reservations and I would say that the entire experience was not bad just average. The restaurant was nice, the food was ordinary, prices about right, the wine list was okay, the waitress was very good, as I said average would describe the experience. Nothing about the visit was memorable.

The venue is ok, kind of dark and cramped. This is however not the restaurant' s main problem. The food is very very average, from appetizer to desert , for 4 we paid 170 $! I will not come back for sure and would not recommend this place to anyone. Middleburg is a very charming town though

Our party of five sampled a variety of dinner dishes: duck breast, snapper, crab cakes, schnitzel with spaetzel, and beet salad--all very tasty at appropriate temperature with solicitous and attentive service. Not a place for those on a strict diet or strict budget. Impressive wine list and some interesting local beers. Picturesque Colonial decor seems authentic, as is typical for... More

This is a fantastic restaurant topped by an historic inn. Because of its age, the rooms are quite eccentric. The floors are creaky and very un level. The beds are good and the room is generally clean. The staff is mostly attentive. O had to remind myself that I was in a small town staying in an old inn and... More

We have eaten here several times when in Virginia visiting relatives. If you are in the area and want a great, relaxed meal in a beautiful setting, this is the place. Our servers are always very nice and, as some of us have dietary issues, they go out of their way to be sure our food is just as needed.... More

I love this restaurant in this beautiful little town. Even the drive from DC is beautiful through gorgeous horse country. My husband and I always looked forward to visiting this place. It's very cosy though not claustrophobic, and the peanut soup is excellent. It's so nice to be able to have a "favorite" place to stop while wandering the antique... More
