I went back and things had changed

I've been back to Silver Pig a few times since my review in September, 2014, and on the most recent couple of visits, I noticed that the quality of the barbecue seems to have changed. When I talked with a member of the staff, I was told that they no longer cook their meat over wood, but rather than... read more

In town for a business meeting and this place was recommended by one of our group who used to live in Lynchburg. Maybe it was good then but I found it to be very disappointing. To start with there is a limited menu. Ordered the barbeque plate which included slaw, minced barbeque and hush puppies. The barbeque was non-discript. Bottom... More

The food here is as southern as it can get the Brunswick stew is awesome the bbq has such a great taste you don't need sauce! Oh and you must try the hush puppies with honey!

Down home Southern BBQ, with a NC flair. Parking is good and the food is better. Great value. I think that the owner worked at one of the big NC BBQ places and transplanted the concept to Madison Heights.

The Silver Pig Barbecue in Madison Heights, Virginia, is everything you expect of an excellent barbecue place. The furniture is recycled from previous restaurants, the ambiance is mostly lacking, and the service is friendly, if casual. But the barbecue is also everything you expect in an excellent barbecue place. In this case it's Eastern North Carolina barbecue, meaning that the... More

Stopped in for lunch and had te pulled pork. Was fresh and tender, not the dry straight from the bag taste. Reasonable prices and a good atmosphere, I'll be returning.

Stopped in there for lunch. Had a bbq sandwich with coleslaw. Having grown up in northeast NC this hit the spot. Traditional shredded pork with a light smoke flavor, vinegar based sauce piled on a white bun with sweet coleslaw. Yum-yum. Sweet tea was just right, fresh brewed and not too sweet. This is the kinda place where you can... More

Everything is excellent like customer service, the food, and so forth. Moreover, the location is fine if someone needs to travel to Liberty University.

After going to school in North Carolina and travelling the back roads to the most remote barbeque places, it is nice to find some good pig at home. For those who know the real stuff it is hard to give the Silver Pig five stars, but its good enough not to have to travel to the Tar Heel State.

This is a rather non-descript little barbecue place in the North Carolina (vinegary) barbecue tradition. I was not impressed. The only entree on the menu is a pulled pork sandwich, along with beans or slaw if you want. The sandwich is a handful of vinegary pork shreds on a cold dry boring "Wonder Bread" hamburger bun. That's it. The place... More
