What a surprise to discover this charming and quality eating establishment just off Rt. 29 in the town of Madison. We've been up-and-down 29 hundreds of times over the years but rarely veer off the beaten path. Thank you TripAdvisor! The menu was far more extensive than one would expect for an establishment of its size: and it changes daily... More

A friend and I had lunch at the Madison Inn recently. I actually live in Madison County, and had eaten there before, but my friend hadn't. She had some trouble locating it, mostly because the outside is so unimpressive, but once inside she, and I, were delighted. The service is excellent, the food unusually good, and the surroundings are pleasant.... More

This is a cozy place that offers great food and a calm, relaxing atmisphere. I enjoy taking out of town guests here for lunch. The wait staff arefriendly and caring, and not hurried. I love the "word of the day" on their Facebook page. If you tell the waitress the "Word of the day", you receive a wonderful muffin free... More

We have enjoyed the Madison Inn for some time, and we highly recommend it. Located on Business 29 in the town of Madison, the restaurant is a great choice while exploring Shenandoah National Park and surrounding areas. They offer fine food previously available only in Charlottesville or Northern Virginia suburbs. The prices are very reasonable. They offer an excellent with... More

We stopped here for a late lunch / early dinner and look forward to coming again. The food was wonderful -- appetizer, main course, and dessert. I got a salad and it was clearly prepared with care. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. The restaurant's interior is sweet, displaying work of local painters on the walls, fresh flowers at every... More

Quite excellent.... from the outside, you might well just pass this little place by. I had the Cordon Bleu and French Onion soup and both were first rate, followed up with a great Key Lime pie. A wonderful surprise in such a tiny little town. Really would give this a 4.5 if the system would allow. Worth a ride just... More

Into a town that used to be limited to cheesburgers, grits, and biscuits and gravy, the Madison Inn has arrived to bring us first-class cuisine in a charming setting, right on Madison's main street. Great meals, fine wines, and caring waitpeople. Check it out if you are passing through our town sightseeing in Madison's beautiful countryside, or come make a... More

Had a lovely dinner here. Fantastic local ingredients (the peach in the salad was inspired), lovely ambience. A bit off the beaten path, and absolutely worth the trip!

While meandering through the Virginia countryside on our way back from Big Meadows we happened upon Madison. We made a stop at the local museum. We enjoyed that and they had a nice collection of Native American artifacts from the area. Worth a stop. We asked for local restaurants with in walking distance. There are 3 one of which was... More
