Cute local restaurant with live music

Good food, great for large group, live music by Jimmy was very entertaining. Short walk from the Craddock Terry hotel along a great walkway that looks over the train tracks.

Had a group dinner at Jimmy's on the James during a business event at the nearby Craddock Terry Hotel. Jimmy's was about a 10 minute fairly easy walk from the Hotel. Tuesday evening dinner; quiet streets, lively restaurant in the group space. Food was good (I had shrimp and grits) with generous portions and good variety. Restaurant seemed to have... More

Jimmy's is one of the best dinning experiences in Lynchburg. The food is wonderful, service great, live music, and the best wine/drink selection around.

Frist visit here and very dissatisfied. Had 7:00 pm reservation but had to sit in the expanded garage area with dull atmosphere. Service was slow. Ordered shrimp, scallops and crabmeat cakes and was nothing more than hush puppies with no seafood flavor. Beer wasn't cold, potatoes were cold. Very limited menu in which sides cost extra. I was told this... More

Jimmy's is our favorite place to go for a special meal when we have out of town company or family or just for a special evening out. The menu is excellent offering local specials and fresh produce. Jimmy Dudley is the owner and also the entertainment. He plays the piano and sings and is REALLY good. The restaurant has an... More

Reserved a table for eight on Saturday night. Good crowd, good music, and our table was waiting. Our waitress just couldn't seem to focus on the task at the moment; drinks first, but she couldn't bring the drinks out within 10 minutes of each other. No "toast" at our table! The food was excellent, but ordering our selections was interrupted... More

We went there on a Saturday evening with 4 couples. We were not seated in the main dining room which is very small and where the entertainment is. We were seated in the adjoining room which used to be a fire station. Service was exceedingly slow taking over 3 hours for our meal. When dessert time came we were told... More

The food was pretty good, the bread for appetizers was good! The meatloaf was with 3 different types of meat and I've not had venison or lamb, but the combo was juicy. The salad was good, but small. We went on a week night, so I guess that is why we did not hear Jimmy play; I didn't care much... More

First time there, after giving up on Shoemakers. The service was friendly and impeccable. Our waiter was a born and bred Burg- very nice guy with a family- who genuinely personified all that is good about Lynchburg. We are from out of state but travel through here frequently. The other diners were a mix of young and old, white and... More

I had a tough time selecting a star rating for this one. The setting is nice inside, although it may be a bit deceiving to say "On the James." Yes, you are near the river, but it's not a riverfront place with a terrace overlooking the water kind of place. Also on the positive side, the staff were very friendly... More
