Wonderful cuisine with a dessert table to die for!

My husband and I decided to try this restaurant because it offered such interesting fare. We weren't disappointed. The chef who is Swiss visited out table to make suggestions. We started out with escargot which rivaled those that we had in Paris. My husband had a delicious Veal Zurich and I had... read more

Easily one of the nicest restaurants in Lynchburg. The food is terrific with a bit of German/Austrian/Swiss flavour laced throughout. This is especially true in the awesome desserts! Well priced and a great ambiance.Part of the ever livening downtown scene. I especially like their beef dishes. I recommend this place for entertaining and impressing out of town guests and an... Main Street Eatery has the best classically trained chef in town. Urs has been preparing creative meals for many years and keeps adding to his menu…and he NEVER takes anything OFF! The schnitzels alone are worth the trip downtown, but the variety of other dishes that Urs prepares is hard to imagine. The mussels are delightful. The October Fest fare... More

The food is as good as you would find in a fine restaurant in Europe. The duck was wonderful, the mussels just like Belgium and the side dishes were perfect. Dessert was amazing. The charming atmosphere and friendly staff made the superb cuisine shine even more.

Tonight we celebrated our son's graduation from LU at Main Street Eatery. What an excellent choice we made! Our party of nine enjoyed the leisurely dinner with scrumptious food in every course. We loved the goat cheese meatloaf, the veal, and the almond encrusted sea scallops with salads and lobster bisque. The waiter was patient and friendly. His service was... More

We had mixed reviews of this restaurant. We were attracted to the restaurant based on the street placard listing the menu. Once inside and given the menu we noticed several items not listed compared with the street placard. When we questioned the server, he stated that the street placard is old (then you should not have it outside). When we... More

My wife and I do "Date Night" on Thursdays, so this week we decided to try Main Street, primarily for the all you can eat mussels. The service was fine (we were early diners so the place was mostly empty). The ambiance is nice, we like "old world" look and feel with brick walls, etc. Food, however, was disappointing. An... Had dinner on a Thursday evening. Quiet and comfy place. Had duck eggroll appetizer and it was amazing. Dinner was delicious and service was very good. I understand they have a great traditional German style menu in the fall in honor of Oktoberfest so I may need to make a trip down just for that!

Consistently excellent food, beautiful presentation, intimate and warm atmosphere. We celebrate family milestones, such as birthdays and anniversaries, even a retirement, here.
