Great mid-point I-81 travel stop.

This has become a frequent stop for us on the way back from Virginia Tech games. Great food. My favorite is the Highland County Trout. Great flavor and sauce. My only issue is that we used to get a whole trout and now it's just a filet. This would probably not be enough for a man. My husband... read more

My Sister and I took my daughter who was in college to dinner at Southern Inn and the experience was just okay based. I think the decor is a bit tired, time to paint the dark wall paneling and overall the food and service was okay. I was hoping for something a little more special.

Stopped in the Southern Inn one Saturday afternoon with a friend after wandering around Lexington. We both had the oyster sandwich special, accompanied by mixed drinks. Everything was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Thinking of coming back this weekend! Loved the food, drinks, and atmosphere!

Dinner was wonderful and the service was great. We did make a reservation. We had the pimento fried cheese for an app. We shared the broiled salmon which was very tasty. For desert we had vanilla ice cream with a tart. All was very good.

The food, service and décor are all great. Make a reservation. Although it is not a small place, it is very popular. The pimento fried cheese was tasty and unusual and the broiled salmon perfect in taste and texture.

Driving through Lexington on Route 11 is far more interesting than blasting through on I-81 and fortunately for me, it was lunch time. On street parking was easy - 2 hrs. on the left and 10 min. on the right side of the street. Both free. Something about the Southern Inn looked appealing and I'm glad to have stopped. Soup... More

I will admit that I'm a bit of a foodie, so I'm a little jaded when I try new restaurants. They really have to impress me. Dinner at Southern Inn was a gift to my wife and I for our honeymoon from my family. Boy, could they pick 'em! The atmosphere was funky and fun… nice art on the walls,... More

We stayed in Lexington for two nights in early January for our anniversary. We had a dinner and a lunch during our stay. We had eaten at the Southern Inn on a day trip several years ago and had a good experience, but it was our first time for dinner. The service was attentive and the food was well-prepared. I... More

Passing through and thought we'd stop in town for a nice lunch. Linen tablecloths was a nice touch. Lots of draft beer to choose from, limited lunch menu. My hubby had the fried chicken and while the portion was small the food was tasty. I had blackened chicken with penne pasta and it was delicious. The prices were reasonable. We... More

Was reccomended to go here which is always a good sign. However....after seeing a basic burger was $15...we chose a cheaper local option for dinner and a game. Not all expense accounts can afford the Southern Inn. In fairness....food did look good and staff was friendly. Enjoy!
