The Red Hen is easily on par or exceeds any upscale restaurant I've ever eaten at. Their locally sourced high quality ingredients paired with expert preparation and presentation made for a truly memorable meal. We dined early with our three year old son and four month old daughter and the service was extremely accommodating and gracious. They made a strawberry... More

We arrived here for dinner in the middle of a rainstorm. We intended to eat on the deck because we were traveling with our Scottish Terrier. No problem, said the three chefs, who cooked us up a fantastic meal to go while the dog waited in the car. We had the risotto with veggies and a NY strip steak. Then... More

My friend and I had a lovely dinner here. It is a small, intimate and very cozy restaurant. We shared the pate and cheese board, all local food, as appetizers and had the special snapper which was very good. The chocolate dessert was fantastic!

The interior and feel of the location is excellent. While tight and short on the seating it adds a special feeling when you get a table. Seats at the back allow you to watch the chefs cook, and lets you understand how the food is coming to you. Food was not bad and for the area quite well, however all... More

My husband and I ate at The Red Hen for our 25th Anniversary Dinner. The service was wonderful, and the food was both delicious and healthy!

The atmosphere was so wonderful, I loved it, like a cozy little house. The drinks were fantastic and the food was very good. My husband wasn't that impressed but I liked it a lot, the staff was so nice and you could hang out and talk and drink after your meal, no rushing you out.

Started with a great glass of Malbec with the appetizer cheese course - they rotate cheese selections weekly. This course offered Gouda, Camembert, and Stilton with Granny Smith apple slices, dollops of honey, candied pecans and bread crisps. The second course was a NY Strip Steak medium rare with buttered potatoes and local veggies. Divine! Dessert was a strawberry shortcake,... More

The food was all fresh and very tasty. The dark and stormy was made with homemade ginger beer and was the one of the best I have ever had. Killer food at a great restaurant.

This little red building with a high, vaulted ceiling was a stunning surprise in tiny Lexington, Virginia. We sat at a table just outside the chef's kitchen, and had a wonderful dinner with fun interaction with the chef and staff. The size of the dining room means that the chef can keep watch over not only what's cooking, but how... More
