Red Hot and Blue is a full-service, casual-themed restaurant chain and caterer featuring delicious award-winning ribs, Memphis-style barbeque, smoked wings, and Southern sides and desserts. The atmosphere is steeped in legendary and contemporary blues music and delivers a large dose of Southern hospitality in a fun and entertaining dining environment. History: The first Red Hot and Blue restaurant opened in Arlington, Virginia in 1988, started by Lee Atwater, Don Sundquist and friends. Don Sundquist was from Memphis and served in the House of Representatives and as governor of Tennessee. The late Lee Atwater was an amateur blues musician and political figure that managed George H.W. Bush's successful race for the presidency. These men were friends who longed for authentic Memphis-style barbeque and great blues music. Unable to find that combination anywhere in the Washington, DC area they decided the only way to get it done was to open a restaurant of their own. The Memphis-style barbeque chain celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2013 by partnering with a charitable organization at 24 different restaurant locations. The yearlong celebration culminated in the presentation of thousands of dollars in donations to local charities. The Name: The name, "Red Hot and Blue" is taken from the title of D.J. Dewey Phillip's radio show that that aired on WHBQ-AM in Memphis, Tennessee in the 1950s. This radio show launched the careers of Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash and broadened the audience for artists such as BB King, Muddy Waters, Robert Cray and Rufus Thomas. Red Hot & Blue Dine-In, Take-Out and Catering. Hickory-smoked Memphis-style BBQ, Ribs, Wings, Beef Brisket, Smoked Chicken, Seafood, Full-service Bar, in a Family-friendly atmosphere with a heapin' helpin' of Southern Hospitality!

Brisket was good, dry-rub ribs were fair at best.

Great atmosphere and music, food was average. Ribs were dry and chewy.

Have always had great food here. In the five years of living in the area, we always had great service, food, and atmosphere. I highly recommend to other parents of aspie parents as they accommodated my child's dietiary needs.

Drove about 45 mins from our hotel in Georgetown Washington DC...just had to try Red Hot & Blue. Everything was amazing, from the service to the food! Wish there were more locations. Would highly recommend this restaurant.....especially if you love ribs. Best I ever had!

Stopped in about 6pm on a weekeday for a quick evening meal. Air temperature was marginally cold, we decided to stay with the few patrons there. Service was quick and good; I decided to have their "signature" chili. not so good. Chili was watery and barely warm (room temp 65?) in some spots of dish) in a wide but shallow... More

This is NOT the place to go for good BBQ. This is the place to go to if you are on a budget, want to be waited on by high school students, and think ketchup makes for good barbeque. The nicest thing one can say about it is that it's cheap, casual, and family friendly. And I guess the location... More

I was staying here on business and stopped in here. Great choice on my part. I was seated right away. Dress was casual like jeans. I ordered the 5 meat sampler which were all roasted to perfection. The food came out and the presentation was very appealing. And there are extra sauces on the table to try. All the meats... More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local that we did not know. We decided to check it out and so glad that we did! We asked the server the type of BBQ served in the restaurant and he said it was Memphis-style BBQ. This was very familiar to our group so they had their work cut out to... More

If you want BBQ - you will not be dissapointed. Good quick service - fair prices and tasty bbq! The potatoe salad is to die for and I cannot find anything wrong to say about the pulled pork ! For a BBQ joint - I give this place a 10 on 10!

Overall the food at this Red Hot and Blues was good although the sandwich had a stale bun that fell apart as I ate. All the employee that I interacted with were friendly but did not go out of their way to make me feel taken care of. I had to call Jenn back to counter and ask for sauces... More
