My husband and I came here because I had heard good things about it. The service was a bit slow but they were packed full, so it wasn't unreasonable. The outdoor seating was full, so we had to sit inside -- we will definitely go back with friends and try to get a table outside. We both chose from their... More

I have been there several times and think MacDowell's is doing it right. They don't try to be trendy, they don't offer food that doesn't make sense at a place with a two-sided beer list. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is great. And I think the food is a great compliment to the beer list. I live 2... More

Beer selections rock!, but wouldn't recommend eating here. There is very limited seating and there are better places in the area for bar food.

I'll be honest, I didn't have high expectations for this place. My family and I drove to the Tuscarora Mill to eat and felt like we were dressed too casual. The MacDowell Brew Kitchen was the first place we saw when we walked around to find something else. The set up of the restaurant is a little strange. However the... More

Specialty soups, sandwhiches, burgers, salads and things you won't find many places: Deep Fried Oreos, Frickles (deep fried pickles) and their own beer plus other brands. This place is small, but the atmosphere is great, the staff is super friendly (Great service Teague!) and we will be back!

Fun atmosphere - particularly outside around the fire. Fantastic beer selection! Food is a complete let down. This is a good spot for drinks and desert. Go somewhere else for dinner; then come here for drinks, dessert, and socializing around the fire ring

I have been there a few times...love the atmosphere.. The fish tacos are awesome...eating fried green tomatoes and sitting outside with the Key West decor and listening to the music is just the best...my nephew had told me about this place and we love it. We just had my husband's 60th birthday party there. Nils and his staff were excellent...... More

We recently held a surprise party for my Uncle at the McDowell Brew Kitchen and it was a blast. All of the 35 guests were raving about the restaurant and the service. This is the second party we have held at McDowell's (we celebrated my wife's 30th shortly after they opened). The service is excellent and we always love seeing... More

We went to MacDowell's on First Friday. It is very busy and features live music. They do have a happy hour where you save $1 a beer and $1 off select appetizers. We had the Frickles ( fried pickles), Fried green tomatoes, split a panini, and fried oreos. We each had 2 beers. The total bill was $42. The Fried... More

Great atmosphere and lot's of micro-beer selections. Gordon has wonderful plans for his kitchen remoldeling business converted to a brew kitchen. I look forward to the additional renovations and expansion of his food menu. Summer is winding down so I suspect given the weather will start to change soon this is a good place to hang out when it is... More
