Great food, amazing view!

We ate two breakfasts here while staying at Keswick. Service was prompt, but we did not feel hurried at all. The menu was full of locally sourced foods- ham, fruit, vegetables and prepared very well. Large open dining room with trappings of local gentry and culture.

The duck confit tortellini was creative and absolutely delicious. The hot and sour soup was an unexpected choice for Fossett's. You don't often find mackerel on the menu in central Virginia - it was crispy, tender and subtle. The only item that was off was the rabbit- a bit dry and the presentation. The chocolate dome was yummy and the... More

Seven of us came for a festive dinner. We ended up as prisoners of endless errors by the kitchen and waitstaff. Had to send back bad fish and lukewarm pheasant. Ended up eating sandwiches from the bar menu.

We had a family birthday celebration in the library. The setting was lovely and the room was private. The staff was very attentive. The menu was very limited. The Mac and cheese appetizer was tasty but very small for the price. The filet was cold. One was overcooked. For $46 the quantity was very scant. There were two measly carrots... More

This restaurant prides itself on cooking with all fresh meats, fruits and vegetables seasoned for different tastes in an innovative way. It is definitely a restaurant where one can dress for dinner (no jeans or casual attire but not black tie.

Very nice menu and the food didn't disappoint. Waiter suggested a local wine which was not cheap but seriously nice. Virginia was an unknown wine district to me before that day.

Kitchen problem but management gave us gratis meals and special private dinner the next night. There were 8 of us. Excellent meal in wine cellar

Highly overrated and over priced. Menu posted on their website doesn't, in any way, reflect actuality. Quality of a filet I ordered for dinner was poor and minuscule. Breakfast at Fosset's was even worse in terms of quality. Only saving grace was magnificent view.

We have been here many times, particularly for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Service is always excellent. So is the setting. This last time, we ordered white wine, which the waiter said (correctly) was not cold enough so had to be chilled. Why wasn't it already cold enough? First courses were both very good. Mains, not so much. Cioppino, a mixed seafood... More
