Very Good Food in "Downtown" Irvington

This is a very eatery for sandwiches and soups. Breakfast and lunch only. Many locals were dining here when my wife and I came in for lunch. Quick service at the order desk, and our orders were brought to our table without delay. I had "The Local" which is NC-style BBQ with cole slaw in the... read more

Great coffees, a nice variety of sandwiches and salads. My only complaint, like others have reported, is the paninis. which are made with bread that is quite thick and could be grilled longer. Other than that quibble, definitely recommended. Certainly the best coffee and sandwich place in the area.

This place you would expect to run into in San Francisco but not here in Irvington. It is a great place to get a really good sandwich made fresh. There maybe a bit of a wait if they are busy because each sandwich is had made. Oh and I enjoyed their Italian soda too.

Hadn't been in ages but stopped by with a friend recently. She ordered a pannini and I got the spinach salad with shrimp. Both of us were pleased with our food and was a great place to relax and catch up.

i lived for years in the NNK and The Local was one of my favorite spots. Recently, I was able to return and chose lunch at The Local. Great, honest food and wonderful staff. The panini sandwiches need to stay on the griddle longer to melt the cheese totally, but The Carter Club remains my favorite. The staff is fairly... More

Great eating resource for morning, noon or take out. There are few eating establishments in this area and you would think the service and quality would suffer, but not here. Much better that a "Starbucks" and more options.

The scene: Looking for a cheap (and local) breakfast as an alternative to what was provided at the Tides Inn. The experience: A handful of locals milled about. Interior is quaint, inviting. They offer a selection of coffee, pastries, sandwiches, salads. After drinking a lot of coffee lately, I opted to get some hot cider instead. The cider came out... More

Nice place for coffee light fare. Really nice. Too noisy inside. Best to sit outside if possible. Compressors from refrigeration equipment is noise source need to moved or compressors replaced with those from the 20th century.

This little bistro features a delightful menu combining local fare and traditional favorites. Try to cajole the owner into making some of her southern pimento cheese. It's the best you will ever eat!

Stopped in for a cup of coffee and breakfast sandwich - both delicious! It was quite busy, but the staff is efficient, friendly, and accurate. Beware - The coffee is quite strong! They have a few tables inside as well as a few outside. Also serve home made ice cream , which we didn't try. FYI - Open every day... More
