Creative, light menu.

I'm a regular for breakfast or lunch. For a tiny, cute town this is it except for the more formal Tides Inn. Good sandwiches, soup, espresso drinks. Service can be spotty when busy.

We dropped in for a lunch and really enjoyed the quality of the salads and the ice cream. The atmosphere was very pleasant and the place had a great vibe...frequented by a crowd of both locals and travelers. I'd definitely make a stop at The Local during my next trip to Irvington and the Northern Neck.

Biked to The Local from Tides Inn for lunch. Read good reviews. Easy bike ride. Lunch was just okay, and I do not think it was much more reasonable than anything at the hotel. There small breakfast menu was much more reasonable than the hotel though. The ice cream, especially the espresso Oreo, was excellent! Service was slow but might... More

Let me start with the fact that I have been coming to The Local for many years. It was a nice little place to grab a sandwich with my children since it is not far from our river home. A few years ago, we started to see a decline in service and the quality of food was lackluster. This afternoon,... More

Very disappointed. We r doing a previsit @ Tides Inn for an upcoming conference and were looking for a few alternatives should people want to venture off the resort. My advice is stay on the resort where the staff is friendly & courteous, rather than the welcome @ The Local we received. You would think as a party of 5... More

We biked to The Local every morning from The Tides. The coffee is fresh and there are simple breakfast options. They also carry wines in the $10 to $20 range. The people in Irvington are so nice and friendly.

we stayed at the Tides Inn and this was a wonderful place to ride our bike for coffee and a small bite. Limited menu but nice outdoor seating.

The Local is our go to spot for breakfast whenever we're in the charming town of Irvington. Their muffins and egg sandwiches are very tasty. They also offer yogurt parfaits with mixed fruit, which are cool and delicious on a hot summer day. Their cranberry orange muffins are particularly yummy. We've had lunch there only once; we found the tuna... More

We stopped for a muffin and coffee prior to our visit to the Steamboat Era Museum. We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the good coffee, the excellent muffins. The sandwiches and soup are equally delicious. Interesting bistro-type combinations, not your usual deli-type sandwiches.

We stopped in for coffee and pastries on our way out of town. Very charming and cozy. Definitely has a neighborhood/local vibe. Excellent coffee.
