I thought the portions were rather small. My wife found hers just right. I'll just comment on the steak sandwich I had. You probably could have done better with a couple minute steaks, a roll and just a little imagination. The fries were good. I would skip this stop on my next visit.

We arrived for dinner with a family of 6 around 8:00 pm on a Monday night. The restaurant was open until 9:00 pm. There were a couple patrons in the bar and no one in the restaurant. We were seated in the bar area, and some of the language or conversation was definitely not appropriate for children. They had to... More

It was nice having a restaurant close by as we were staying near the State Park, but unfortunately we were not impressed with the food. Do not order the Teriyaki Rib-Eye special. I noticed this advertized several times during our week-long stay. I ordered it expecting a marinated rib-eye steak, juicy and flavorful. It was two dollars more than the... More

Anchor's is the only restaurant near the State Park that is open all year. Prices are very reasonable. It's not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination, but for the price it's reasonable. The owner is trying to give the place more excitement with live music on weekends. I wouldn't drive from the other side of the bridge to come... More

After a long hike and some issues, we tried to eat a late lunch somewhere and because it was Labor Day weekend many places not open--Anchors Family Restaurant opened its doors and heart to us--nice atmosphere, though food a bit on the rich side.

Family restaurant and the food was great, especially if you are tired of sandwiches and pizza! Would definately eat here again!

About 30 of us gathered there on a Sunday afternoon for a family gathering that celebrated a special occasion. Family members that live near here chose this restaurant and I’m glad that they did. This is a small home style restaurant in a very rural part of Virginia near Smith Mountain Lake. Besides the tables in the front and a... More
