Description: Located in an elegantly restored Victorian mansion, Joshua Wilton House is within walking distance of historic downtown Harrisonburg and the campus of James Madison University, offering guests quiet charm and gracious living in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The Restaurant offers a unique and exquisite a la carte menu that changes with the seasons, along with an extensive selection of beers and an award-winning wine list. Featured are the food products of many small local farms and producers who supply our kitchen with high quality ingredients that simply cannot be found elsewhere. Executive Chef Mark Newsome's philosophy of cooking is to present these wonderful products in a fashion that allows their natural goodness to shine through. During the warmer months, seating is available on the outdoor brick patio. Arrive early and enjoy a cocktail in our lounge before dinner.

We ate here as part of our overnight stay at the Inn. Nice list of cocktails. Pork tenderloin and salmon was delicious. My husband asked if he could substitute broccoli for kale as he didn't think he liked kale. Not only did they make the substitution, but they brought him a portion of kale as well, in hopes of changing... More

We took a family of eight out to celebrate an anniversary. The food was very good, but VERY expensive. Our bill was over $600! Our waiter was good, and the atmosphere was very nice. Seven of us had steak as our entree, and they were excellent, but they were $35 each, so they should have been! Of course, we didn't... More

Having lived in Harrisonburg for 4 years, going to the Joshua Wilton House is one of those things I always wanted to do but never got around to - until last week. Found out about their Date Night special on Thursdays - $55 for an appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert - and decided to finally check it out. Upon... More

We had a wonderful family dinner celebrating many things (birthdays career changes, anniversaries). We called the day of for a reservation and they were very accommodating to our last minute request. We had a infant with us and the staff was very welcoming to her as well! We were able to sit outside and it was a very pleasant evening!... More

Liked Everything!!. Venison chops were superb, as were the raviolis. They had a very nice and reasonably priced wine list. Atmosphere is quite elegant and service was exellent.

While visiting local vineyards, we stopped for dinner in Harrisonburg, VA. We happened onto this restaurant. Thursday is date night! Two entrees with a shared dessert and appetizer for $55.00. Because we don't eat the same things, we splurged another $12 for a second appetizer and were quite satisfied. The pork chop over black-eyed peas was terrific and I could... More

Lovely historical setting; friendly and solicitous service. Delicious food - locally grown, expertly prepared by Master Chef. Prices are high, but deservedly so. Go for a special night. We celebrated our daughter's graduation from JMU Masters in Accounting - Woo Hoo!!!

Wonderful gem that was recommended to us by a local who said it was the best in town. Must agree! Started in the bar with a leisurely drink, were not rushed. Escorted to table when we were ready - no hurry, take your time. Food and service were perfect. Enjoy the experience when in town. Nice to see fine dining... More
