Located in an elegantly restored Victorian mansion, Joshua Wilton House is within walking distance of historic downtown Harrisonburg and the campus of James Madison University, offering guests quiet charm and gracious living in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The Restaurant offers a unique and exquisite a la carte menu that changes with the seasons, along with an extensive selection of beers and an award-winning wine list. Featured are the food products of many small local farms and producers who supply our kitchen with high quality ingredients that simply cannot be found elsewhere. Executive Chef Mark Newsome's philosophy of cooking is to present these wonderful products in a fashion that allows their natural goodness to shine through. During the warmer months, seating is available on the outdoor brick patio. Arrive early and enjoy a cocktail in our lounge before dinner.

Awesome dining experience!

Thought this place may be too stuffy. From the minute you walk in, nothing but Southern charm and hospitality. Sure, the menu items are pricey, but what a wonderful dining experience. Wait staff top notch. Recipes exude a taste of Virginia. Recommend going with a large party.

We went as part of a large crowd and we were early for our reservation. They worked hard to accommodate us as soon as possible and I loved that they had vegetarian options for the Valentine's Dinner. One of the best parts was the fact that Ann Marie helped us get cabs back to our Inn due to the taxi... More

Beautiful Victorian house that makes the most as a a B&B. Great for a stay in the area. The restaurant is a local favorite and provides a variety of special dishes, many of which are created by locally sourced ingredients. In recent months, I have found some of the dishes seem to take on a bit too much complexity, but... More

Beautiful old house with numerous dining rooms. Since it was our Valentine's Day dinner (altho celebrated 2 days early) we expected to splurge but was very pleased (and surprised) to find the restaurant offering a special $55 for two, that included 2 entrees and a shared appetizer and shared dessert, making our meal even more reasonable. Great wine list but... More

Been going there for years, but disappointed by management's lack of concern. I left a message regarding my wife's unfortunate experience with food poisoning, and it took a month for the manager to get back to me - he should not have wasted his time. All I got were insincere platitudes and apology - not even an offer for a... More

We're ready to make the Joshua Wilton House an tradition: two times a year, as we travel to and from the South and the Berkshires. This is an extraordinary establishment, with food and staff that match the elegance of its Queen Anne Victorian mansion. The menu is not extensive but quite imaginative, taking advantage of local produce and the season.... More

A gothic mansion with a fine dining restaurant that was quite full the night we were there. I thought ushering you into the bar where you had no choice but to order a drink a trifle odd- a choice of bar or table would have been nice. Anyway, the mojito needed toning down- not the normal style we would be... More

I had the pleasure at dining at this restaurant on 17th October for my 5 year anniversary. I felt compelled to review this place because I had such an amazing time. The server Aaron was the best server I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. Fine dining is not just delicious food but the ambviance and the service... More

Our room, #5, was just OK, nothing fabulous. I was definitely not impressed by the glob of long black hair that floated to the surface when I filled the bath tub....apparently it had been on the drain covering. JMU Frat parties that were very loud were just 1/2 block away....I realize JW can't control their neighbors, but the noise from... More

My wife and I visited the Joshua Wilton House in Harrisonburg on a Friday evening at about the beginning of the evening rush. We had reservations and were seated immediately. We parked at the Union Bank next door which is probably okay after the bank closed for the day. We both ordered a cocktail. My wife had a Zona Cosmo... More
