Okay once we found the place we waited at the bar for our table, the valet parking was really nice! We went with cocktails (instead of wine) and the bartender has talent, it was fun sampling some different drinks, please try their sangria if you are a fan of sangria. We sat upstairs, we both had steaks with sauces, the... More

What a great restaurant! I was visiting JMU with my daughter and we had an excellent meal at the LOcal Chop & Grill House. It was comparable to the best of NYC. If only it was closer to home.... Perhaps my daughter will go to JMU!

This restaurant, located in an old produce bldg, was as charming as the food was great. The bar area was equally as delightful. Everything, according to our delightful waiter, is grown, butchered and brought in locally. We were given choices for steak rubs, sauces, and very different sides. It was delicious, fun, and not overly priced for the meals. We... More

We have visited the Chop House a few times since it opened, but last evening was the first time in a while. We had sworn off the restaurant because the experience had never justified the bill. Our most recent experience was again nothing spectacular. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller. It was good, but the meager serving of three smallish... More

I was on a business trip for the night and really craving a good steak---Tripadvisor did not steer me wrong! A nice old building downtown with valet parking. I was alone, so I sat at the bar and enjoyed conversation with the friendly bartender. The Caesar salad was unique----try it! I had the ribeye medium rare and it was excellent!

Had dinner at this establishment after reading such great reviews on Trip Advisor. It's a beautiful and rustic building with a warm feel. Excellent menu at reasonable prices and the food was good. Service could have been better but was acceptable. Great touch when you valet your car and they have it waiting for you when you're ready to leave.... More

Located in an old brick walled building providing a pleasant surrounding. I had the rib eye steak, and my wife had the filet. What separated this from other "steak houses" was the choice of three different dry rubs, and several different sauces which accompany the meal. We also liked the opportunity to pick two side dishes from the many offered.... More

Took a business client here for dinner. The staff is top notch and know their menu and extensive wine list. Great local wine selections too! Our steaks, 12 oz. ribeye and a filet, were mouthwatering tasty! Choose you steak, choose your rub, choose your sauce (comes in a rubicon), then chose your sides. Recommend the Mac and cheese too. Made... More

This was our first visit, date night with the hubby. We were going to sit on the covered porch but there were tables available at the bar. I'm so glad we chose bar! The atmosphere was just what I wanted, casual, comfortable, good food 18 beers on tap. I wasn't quite sold on my choice for food, the caesar salad.... More

My husband and I made reservations for a Tuesday night and boy, this place exceeded our expectations! The moment we set foot in the door, we were treated as though we dined there every day. I don't remember her name, but the woman at the hostess station greeted us with such a genuine smile--refreshing considering how many places make you... More
