Harrisonburg was an overnight stay for us. My husband selected the restaurant and made reservations for us. We arrived a little early but were seated as we had an early reservation. The service was superior and not too much. I ordered a filet which was cooked to perfection (medium). We ordered a local wine which was very good. We rarely... More

The Local would be a good restaurant in any city. Imagine my surprise finding this gem in a small college town in Virginia This place was busy, and I know why. It's good. Steak is the speciality, and that's what I had. I had a filet. It was a good piece of meat, cooked right. Sides were super. Our waiter... More

Came here on a lark. They were booked up for two hours, so I ate at the bar. The waiter was prompt, informative, actually said what the specials cost (a detail overlooked in way too many restaurants), and was helpful. i had the Caesar salad which was beautifully plated, but pretty tasteless. The ribeye steak fantastic. Beautifully seasoned, perfectly cooked... More

I would highly recommend to any one traveling any where near to Harrisonburg. The restaurant is nicely decorated with lots of exposed brick. The service was great. Our waiter was funny, but not over the top, knowledgeable, and informative. We were a party of 10 and he took time with all the orders explaining best pairings and accommodating special requests.... My husband and I ate here last Friday while on a weekend get-a-way to Virginia. We chose it because of the great reviews and were delighted with the building as soon as we pulled up. I would have loved to eat outside on the deck, but had dinner reservations inside. Our seat was at the top of the stairs overlooking... More

We were passing through Harrisonburg on a road trip and dropped in without a reservation on a Friday night. There were only seats at the bar available, but that turned out to be perfect for us: the bar was lively without being rowdy, and the bar menu offers affordable, tasty comfort food. If it's available, try the crab bisque--it's insanely... More

Just being in an old renovated factory is part of the ambiance. Food is a bit pricy, but when you know this in advance it is not a surprise. Presentation of food in plates is just awesome. Taste is really good and they are using ingredient which make the plate exclusive. The ceasar salad dressing is just perfec. I went... More

After having flown into Dulles International from London; we decided ahead of time to stay overnight in Harrisonburg on our trip to Clemmons, North Carolina. We also pre-booked a table online with Local Chop & Grill House, based solely on previous reviews. The area surrounding the Local Chop and Grill House appears a bit rough; especially in the evening and... More
