I live in Charlottesville and we make sure anytime we have visitors from out of state we bring them here. Amazing food! Last time we went the cook took us outside and showed us all the BBQs and how they cook it. I would definitely call this pure BBQ. My wife claims it's not southern BBQ it's home country BBQ,... More

The reviews that claim this is not authentic bbq have probably never been. You can smell the smoke pit upon entering town. Food was fabulous, and generous. The staff should have been overwhelmed by the amount of customers, but they seemed to have all the tone in world to smile at customers, explain the menu, and direct newcomers. Fabulous.

This a cafeteria style place. You can eat indoors or outside. We had the pulled pork sandwiches. The meat was good and plentiful. We got the sandwich combo with fries, The fries were only warm and limp. We also opted for sides. The Mac and cheese was more like gritty cheese sauce with a little macaroni thrown in and the... We just kept going back! The BBQ is delicious and there are so many sides to choose from we had to return! Try the pickles -- fried or the homemade ones. All are fantastic. And get the best of both worlds with the sandwich combo -- 50/50 fries and hushpuppies.

The barbeque was great! We stopped in after visiting the museum next door. We love BBQ. We are from SC and love mustard based sauces. This BBQ had a great flavor and the sides were good too. They had a great selection of sauces although no mustard based sauce. It was YUMMY! If we are ever that way again we... More

The barbeque was excellent. There's not much to see in Gordonsville, but this place is definitely worth checking out. The brisket is cut thick and "fall apart" tender. The sides are everything that you'd expect at a respectable barbeque joint. This place is built for the whole family. DO check out the beer selection in the cooler!

I have passed The Barbeque Exchange more times than I'd care to admit when driving from the Charlottesville area to Northern Virginia. Every time I would think, I really need to give that place a try. I finally did and I'm so glad. First the staff was helpful and friendly. I brought home for my family pulled pork, homemade cold... Stopped by on our way through, pleasantly surprised! Delicious BBQ chicken, huge portions! The spicy slaw was great, as was the other sides. The chixked wings were amazing! Super crispy and great flavor. I would skip the kids meals and just get BBQ for them, platters are big enough to share. Loved trying all the sauces!

If you happen to be in Gordonsville, maybe visiting the Civil War Museum, then give this place a try. The parking lot is full, the line is long, but the staff does a brilliant job of moving people and food along swiftly and efficiently. Pork is revered here.......we even saw bacon topped donuts. We enjoyed the pulled pork platter, with... More
