A blazing log fire and comfortable arm chairs round the fire what more could one ask on a cold February lunch time. The food was very good too not your normal pub grub. We stayed very close to here and so we went here 2 nights. Very welcoming friendly staff. Nice yummy pub food - very limited veggy choice. Brilliant with dogs our dog loved it there. Would go back again.

I liked the food a lot here, good family fun. I went after an archery course and a day in the woods and this was a good spot for a family meal. Would recommend to others

We were recommended by some friends to try this pub and we weren't disappointed! It was fairly busy and I think they had some staff shortages in the kitchen. But we were kept informed and when lunch came it was excellent. It has a lovely atmosphere, it's very clean and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We would definitely go back.

We visited on Sunday - only roasts available fur lunch. Great! Only one dish so it should be exceptional. Only it wasn't. It was OK. Lovely location, nice staff but the food was only reasonably good in our opinion. Nothing to complain about and I'd probably come again. We were just expecting more.

Went to The Royal Oak and was very disappointed with the serving staff's attitude. Was made to feel very uncomfortable for having small children. They didn't even have any high chairs so I think that should have been the biggest hint! Food wasn't the cheapest and small portions. Being a local to the New Forest I wouldn't visit again as... Having been recommended to the Royal Oak North Gorley, we were very disappointed with the attitude of the Bar man/Manager. We were a party of six and although the there were two tables for four persons unoccupied they were not prepared to push them together, excuse being it could be difficult for the staff to move around. I looked very... More

We visited this pub in December whilst staying in the New Forest. The staff were lovely, friendly and professional. Small but varied menu. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the puddings were equally delicious.Hope to return to the New Forest in the Autumn and would definitely eat here again.

Once again ten of us had a great time welcoming in the new year . Brian , the owner and his manager Michelle couldn't have done any more to make us feel welcome . The buffet was superb and the bubbly which was included in the price of the ticket flowed freely both on arrival and at midnight .The DJ... More

The Royal Oak has a lovely warm atmosphere as you walk through the door. It has a cosy fire and a welcoming bar. Seating is varied from soft leather settees to casual dining tables with both high and low seating. There is also a small restaurant area. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. The menu isn't extensive, but we... More
