Visiting the area on holiday & this is well within walking distance, we arrived on a very busy Friday night, we had our dog so opted to stay outside however we were welcome to sit inside. We only really needed a snack so had a meat platter & some olives on the side, we were advised there was a 45... read more

We are on holiday in Dorset and headed out for some Sunday Lunch with the family. The setting is lovely and picturesque and the Sunday lunch was superb. All the portions are available in smaller sizes for the kids and the menu choice for Sunday Lunches is good. Highly recommended for good food for families and the staff are very... More

My mother, my 7 year old son and myself stopped here for lunch after a ramble. We had three soft drinks, two jacket potatoes and a sandwich. The food was good although my son's jacket potato did not really have enough cheese and beans on it. However a bill of over £30 was not value for money. I am sure... More

Being local with a reasonable choice on the doorstep for a spot of lunch, I opted for The Royal Oak. I have not been here for a while as my last visit was very disappointing. It clearly has a much better direction as the choice of food and drink where good, its a great setting, and the service was pretty... More

We found this pub by chance due to it's location being a short walk from the New Forest Water Park where we were camping for the weekend. Although a large group of 18, the team were lovely and looked after us, making us feel very welcome. The pub was beautifully decorated and the food was excellent, no one could fault... More

Visited in early July, whilst on holiday in the New Forest. Came to the Royal Oak for lunch with two older Family Friends. Booked in advance - landlord very helpful over arrangements, since we'd never visited the pub before. Everything was perfect on the day. Someone had even taken the trouble to write a handmade reservation card and put it... More

My hubby and I were looking for a good lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We had not been for a number if years to The Royal Oak and chanced upon it this afternoon. We were thrilled that we did! It has changed décor wise from what we remember and is much lighter, not so dark and oppressive. Well, we were... More
