A very good looking pub from the outside, Inside a different story not sure what it must have looked like before some one had a go at do it your self interior design. Any way you can all ways sit out side which is strange as the garden is cut in half by a fence. Any way on to the... More

Visited on a Thursday night and had dinner in the restaurant. The staff were attentive, food was good (steaks and triple cooked chips were excellent) and the landlord has a sense of humour. Rear garden looked inviting. The pub is dog friendly in the bar and garden. I am told the real ale was exceptional. Good selection of wine -... More

I live in the new forest and regularly come here for the odd burger and drink when I fancy. I am usually served by a young ginger girl, whose name starts with M. She makes mine and my families experience of this class pub ten times better as she's so welcoming, as well as the other staff. I am glad... More

Taken by friends who had eaten here previously and were impressed with both food and service. We had Sunday lunch which was delicious and the desserts were excellent. Shall definitely be returning. Thank you to Ronnie and Jonathan who made us most welcome.

This pub looked amazing, lovely setting , excellent decor and beautiful gardens. Sadly the service , food and hospitality were lacking. As a family with a young child the sign in the bar ' parents should keep children at their table' was a good indicator this was not going to be a family friendly pub No baby changing facilities either.... I used to live locally in the area and decided to come back to the new forest on holiday with my family. I also used to come to the pub a lot and my trip here a few weeks ago did not disappoint! a young girl called Maisy looked after us very well and gave us excellent service. I found... More

We live in the area and wanted a bit of lunch out in the forest and have been to the Royal Oak a few times but not recently. We will not go again or recommend it to friends. We were told we couldn't start a tab if we wanted to sit in the garden as we may leave without paying... More

We have been on holiday for two weeks in the area so went to the Royal Oak twice for lunch. The first time was really good - a lovely meal which we really enjoyed. The second time was awful. There was s mix up with our order and only one starter and one main were put through. The food was... More
