Pleasant pub

After following on social media I thought it was time we should go to this pub and have something to eat. The last time we visited was around 10 years ago and oh how things have changed. The interior was very smart and had a really nice feel to it. It wasn't very busy at all but it took a... More

Not one for using these sort of sites however decided it was worth a mention... We have been out a few times for Sunday Roasts and dinners during the mid week evening and found this place is a "hidden secret" in the North part of the New Forest Food has always been fantastic and Landlady very helpful with a Smile... A group of us were really looking forward to Sunday lunch having walked in the New Forrest for 5 miles. However; 1) We had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive (we were already told that food would be around a 20 minute wait so 45 mins came as a bit of a surprise) 2) Although the food... More

Usually just visit for a drink and a chat with friends but have eaten there a couple of times recently so thought an update would be handy. A good menu with various price points (and a fixed price special 2/3 course menu during the week). The roasts, pies, soups, chutney etc are made on the premises. I was very happy... More

I visited this pub seveeal times over the past 18 months, when we first visited tbere was a young lady manager, very hospitable and friendly and welcoming, food was excellent, however on our recent visits we were surprised to see a new manageress, who seemed more interesred in looking hood and fraternising with the locals while people waited at the... If you've ever hankered after a good pub after a good walk you could do much worse than the Royal Oak at North Gorley. It is situated in the New forest, and the horses will poke their noses over the fence into the front beer garden. The food can be amazing - fresh whitebait, mayo and sea salt. Heaven. It... More

Such a shame that not only the atmosphere sucked out of what was a lovely pub but now the food and service has had the life drained from it. Went with a few locals that I am sure rack up a few thousand pounds every year so I was surprised when we complained that the Steak was 'off', I know... More

We were staying down in the New Forest, and had previously visited the Royal Oak some years ago, so we thought we would go again. The outside of the pub is still the same, more modern inside. On arrival we were met by the very pleasant young lady behind the bar. We had a great lunch I had the Chicken... More
