We have been on holiday for two weeks in the area so went to the Royal Oak twice for lunch. The first time was really good - a lovely meal which we really enjoyed. The second time was awful. There was s mix up with our order and only one starter and one main were put through. The food was... read more

Taken by friends who had eaten here previously and were impressed with both food and service. We had Sunday lunch which was delicious and the desserts were excellent. Shall definitely be returning. Thank you to Ronnie and Jonathan who made us most welcome.

This pub looked amazing, lovely setting , excellent decor and beautiful gardens. Sadly the service , food and hospitality were lacking. As a family with a young child the sign in the bar ' parents should keep children at their table' was a good indicator this was not going to be a family friendly pub No baby changing facilities either.... I used to live locally in the area and decided to come back to the new forest on holiday with my family. I also used to come to the pub a lot and my trip here a few weeks ago did not disappoint! a young girl called Maisy looked after us very well and gave us excellent service. I found... More

We live in the area and wanted a bit of lunch out in the forest and have been to the Royal Oak a few times but not recently. We will not go again or recommend it to friends. We were told we couldn't start a tab if we wanted to sit in the garden as we may leave without paying... More

First of all the map on trip advisor is not right. It is not on the Ringwood Road you must take sign to North Gorley & turn left at T junction. Meticulously refurbished pub & spotlessly clean. Sandwiches & jacket potatoes or full menu. 2 course lunch a bargain at £12.95. Idyllic setting opposite a New Forest green/common. Cows, donkeys... More

We called in for a meeting with some Morris car enthusiasts, and were delighted to find this lovely pub. Situated just into the New Forest, this is a beautifully decorated and welcoming hostelry. The evening menu was extensive, and there was a "Specials" board as well. My husband pronounced the beer (Ringwood Brewery) as very well kept. I chose a... More

Was staying next door so used every night and had 3 meals there. Was made most welcome on the first night by the landlord on the first night and he continued to greet us and ask about how we were enjoying ourselves during his stay as did the landlady. A pleasant place to have a after a day exploring. Found... More

A good quality of service with an eclectic menu . The setting in the New Forest is delightful including encounters with donkeys, ponies and even a herd of cows cavorting by !! This was our 3rd visit which we enjoyed immensely. However would not recommend their Sunday Roast I'm afraid. .... very tired vegetables were served !!

Not a great evening sorry to say...have been to the pub for a pint from time to time, nothing special just another New Forest pub, but it has changed over time from a great beamed hostelry to a faux gastro pub..my evening was poor on all fronts, slow service between courses, food was dry from the kitchen when it did...
