Great place for beer, fresh burgers, special mac and cheese

We ate at Capital Ale House twice on our last trip to Richmond. The beer (and cider) list is awesome and fun to explore. We had burgers, fish tacos, macaroni and cheese (not to be missed!), belgian fries, sweet potato fries, and more. The "adult" macaroni and cheese is a special four cheese combo... read more

great selection of beers, but food is just okay. if you are into beers this is the right place. if food is more your thing there are much better choices in the area.

This is a comfortable, casual and good place for dining. I conveniently walked from the next door Hilton hotel. The restaurant is not loud like a sports bar, but is casual and fun like one. There are intimate booths for dining and wonderful lighting. The staff is prompt, professional and knowledgable. The restaurant has an amazing beer selection. The menu... More

I have visited this Capital Ale House several time. They have a great beer selection with the bartenders being very knowledgeable about them. The prices are a little on the high side, but overall not to bad for a nice establishment. The $2 burger Monday's can't be beat. I will visit when I return on business.

Our server, Chelsea, was fabulous. She helped us choose our beer and was patient while we tried to decide what to eat from among the huge selection. The fish tacos were yummy along with the Cuban sandwich. Their special dipping sauce for the fries is great. Our table by the fire was toast warm. Ask to be seated in the... More

The beer list is amazing but grossly overpriced compared to other restaurants with equally impressive craft beer lists. Service was worse than anything I've had anywhere in a long time. In our server's defense, he was super nice and well-intentioned, but he lacked support, and there was clearly no leadership in the building -- almost an hour and a half... More

Came here for a rehearsal dinner, so we were in one of the private rooms. There was a fireplace in the center; great ambiance! Massive beer selection was impressive - even as a non-drinker. But everyone else enjoyed their choices. Waitresses were entertaining and friendly. The steak dish we were served as part of our menu was absolutely fantastic.

Love the deep fried cheese curds and the mussels. They have all you can eat mussels on Thursdays - YUM. They also have a great salads, salmon, burgers and other typical bar food like wings and fries. Service is great and I will be back again.

Predictably good. Big bar with at least 70+ beers on tap. Bartenders knowledgeable (ask for weaver). Solid salads, sandwiches and dinners. Mac and cheese killer. I enjoy the artichoke sandwich. Try the giant Bavarian pretzel with cheese dip and mustard. Beet salad and salmon salad on this visit. Would order again. If you see these, try these - Firestone Wookey... More
