Good Mexican Food in Gainesville, VA

My wife and I stopped by El Tio Tex-Mex Grill in Gainesville, VA last weekend. We got there after 8:00 PM and the restaurant was very crowded, but they were able to seat us. That was a plus. The chips and salsa were very tasty and our meal choices were very good with the exception that the... read more

This place has another location in Falls Church that is seedy at best. The food at the Gainesville location is pretty good for americanized Mexican. The service was good as well. In my opinion spend another 15 minutes on 66 and go to Uncle Julio's Rio Grande Cafe if you want really good Mexican.

Always fresh ingredients and perfectly prepared. Great margaritas! Fair price for great food. Highly recommend.

I had the $14.95 chicken fajitas for supper. The chicken strips were very tender and tasty. They did not have much to go with it, except for the onions. There were one or two slices of green pepper. There was very little lettuce and no grated cheese. The rice and beans were nothing special and were small servings. The guacamole... More

Have been here a couple of times. The beef fajitas were very tasty and better than many Mexican restaurants in the area, but are a little more expensive ($16.95). My wife and I both ordered the Chicken Tortilla soup (7.95). It was okay, but lacking in substance. Very little chicken or vegetables. El Toro in Warrenton was much better soup... More

Admittedly went on a Friday evening. The place was jammed-packed. The servers were polite but anxious to get you in and out. The four of us split an order of chicken nachos and the Nachos were good. The Salsa was very bland and thin. I ordered a Braised Pork dish named "Lechoncito Al Horno." I was a bit disappointed as... More

The food is always fabulous. The fajitas are very tasty. Our favorite is the Pollo ranchero for $11.95. Grilled chicken breast topped with sauteed zucchini, onions, tomatoes, white wine, and cream served with white rice, black beans and salad. El Tio has been able to hold their meal prices at a reasonable level, however the portions have shrunk a bit... More

Really a nice place. Super servers who are happy you are there. Nice menu with lots of traditional Mexican delights. They also have a big Margarita that is super. I love Tex-Mex and this is the to go if you do too!!

I have been a fan of this place since it moved to the Gateway SHopping Center. Service became poor -- prices went up for lunch. Suddenly cheese enchiladas were $9.95 instead of $7.95. $7,95 is reasonable for a Mexican Lunch as is $9.95 is reasonable for a Mexican dinner. $9.95 for lunch is a lot. It was very strange concerning... More

We went to Tio's on a Saturday evening around 5pm. We were seated right away. We ordered sangria which was really tasty, and ordered cheese dip, guacamole & our entrees. The cheese dip & guacamole came out right away & were really great. The chips were freshly made & crisp as well. Our entrees came out very quickly! We were... More
