Tavern in the wood

Great place to eat...waitress was very attentive. Fried chicken is the best and I love the atmosphere of the little tavern .

I'm a serious gourmet foodie, so the menu under the "new" ownership is not exactly my style. However, the veggie lasagna is good and portions are generous. It's a family restaurant with family-size portions. Many people in the county love it, especially after church on Sundays.

Visited based on other Trip Advisor reviews. Easy to find, visited on a Sunday at about 2 pm. Not crowded. Our server was super nice. My husband and I got the family style and got all 3 meats. I dont eat fried chicken, but my husband (and daughter later) said it was very good! The first plate of the chicken... More

It's been several years since we ate here. Ownership has changed hands many times in the interim. Each new owner pledges to maintain the ambiance of the old Inn. We dropped by on Sunday about 12:15 following church with another couple. We were warmly greeted by an employee in the parking lot and again inside. The current layuot is family... More

Food was good as were the menu choices. However, the quality is declining compared to previous meals (meat in the chicken and dumplings had a lot of fat and gristle) and a couple of the sides were cool. Service was excellent and prices are reasonable.

Great old style roadhouse. Family style eating in a beautiful location. Not far from the Parkway and great people too. I must try eating joint.

The Restaurant opened in 1927. The current Menu offers service Family Style, meats on platters, vegetables in bowls from which you dip your serving, and Single Serve. It explains Options to customize your meal and Privileges that come with Family Style. Read carefully! My wife and I chose Family Style, we thought the best value. The food was good. But... More

This restaurant is very close to the Blue Ridge parkway. There is a small hotel with a pub and a restaurant. Peered into the Pub it has room for maybe 10 stools. We went to the restaurant around 2pm on Sunday. It looks like it can seat 70 or so people. It was not crowded at all. The menu highlights... More

It was family style since we were 32 people on a tour. Food was very good, variety of choice of food was nice. Service was prompt.
