This place is run by some folks from the Netherlands (so I was told by a local) and the baguette was absolutely delicious. I was so shocked to find international delights such as quince paste and ginger beer in a small town like Farmville. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich, a hot chocolate and added two short beeswax taper candles... More

I was shopping in Farmville today, 09/16/2014 and decided to grab lunch at The Bakery. I walked in and there was a female employee standing behind the bakery case. I was focused on her and did not see the blackboard with the menu. I stood there for a minute before she acknowledged me. I asked if she had a menu... More

Finding quality food in a small town can sometimes be difficult. The Bakery delivers a sophisticated menu accented by a mature wine and beer selection. I've eaten lunch here twice, and the chef delivered consistently. If your in Farmville, and don't want something deep fried, I highly recommend swinging by the Bakery.

It may be a small, eccentric place (check out the upstairs), but it's packed with great cheeses and wines and truly excellent homemade pastries and breads. The sandwiches are the best in town, definitely not mass-produced. Service is slow but that's a reasonable trade off for the quality of the food. Parking is 50 cents per hour, not exactly a... More

I have visited this establishment total of 6 times. The food is just okay. It is not great by any means it's just different. The prices are outrageous. But I would have kept on going back, as I like to support small and local businesses, if it wasn't for this one problem: on all of my 6 visits, I observed... More

Went in to get something different. I had to pay to park, which is definitely not a plus. Had to wait on my food and watch the clock because I had to keep feeding the meter.

You order your sandwich AND THEN they start making it. This is not McDonalds. This is not fast food. This is a real-honest-to-god European bakery. If you ever find yourself in, let's say France, try to get off-tour and go to a real bistro and order a sandwich - you will not be served said sandwich immediately - you will... More

Breakfast and coffee, apparently, but not during normal hours. Had to pay to park to discover they had arbitrarily decided not to open until 10.

I had a turkey club and my husband had a ham and cheese, each came on an baguette, and were served with a wedding cookie. Both were really good! It did take some time to be served, so if you in a hurry this is not the place to stop. Its a really nice shop and the food was yum,... More

Excellent food--absolutely delicious! But, a little overpriced. And, you have to wait a long, long time. It's not practical for a lunch break from work, but the bread is delicious and the pastries are heavenly! I will come back, but perhaps I will call it in ahead of time.
